I never normally snipe, but thought i may as well start to have a go. Is Deep Impact worth it as a perk when using a sniper rifle, or are they powerful enough without it to go through most things?
If your sniping the better perk option in my opinion is iron lungs. However, if your using the .50 cal then deep impact isn't going to improve the penetration that much anyway.
edit: i actually said steady aim instead of iron lungs

Using steady aim with a sniper rifle is pure reap, you can shoot unzoomed like in CoD2 , had so much fun with that.TheAussieReaper wrote:

i personally use deep impact, but iron lungs is probably good as well

Iron lungs is just too good to forsake imo.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.
Or you could just get better with the rifle and you don't need to press shift at all, like me.KILLSWITCH wrote:

Dead silence I like. Snipers are meant to be concealed, so sniper rifle, silenced pistol and dead silence, possibly UAV jammer and you're a ghost.
Deep Impact is not worth it for sniper.
Stick to steady aim / dead silence / iron lungs ect.

only use iron lungs if you suck.
i use iron lungs, i find can snipe easy enough without it, except i dont really need anpther perk 3 in the sniping kit so its useful to be able to take more time over the shot sometimes.
This isn't real life.
To do any damage, you can't hide in the grass all day.
Iron Lungs only really comes in handy if you're waiting for someone to pop out.
If you need that extra time to steady the crosshair on an enemy sniper, you need to practice aiming.
Go for Deep Impact. It rapes on maps like Crossfire.

Truth. I have this kit. Now all I need is a silencer and Ghille camoFunky_Finny wrote:

i just wait for them to show themselves if i snipe, unless you have a 50 cal then you dont really need deep impact, and iron lungs is useful as i play on the 360 where aiming is more difficult then with PC, even though dont really need it, its good situations like waiting for them to come out of a hiding place, like you saidDefCon-17 wrote:

When you get good with a SR, you don't need Iron Lungs.
Deep impact is useful, especially with some the bolt actions.
Go deep impact, but only when you can find and aim at your target quickly.

Go for Deep Impact Iron Lungs is a Waste of a Perk. Deep Impact helps when you pick up a gun too. Deep Impact is the better choice.
Having tried all, I'm sure everyone's play style is different so it will be down to personal choice on what people feel suits them best and what game mode they play. I only play HC S&D so I found:
Steady Aim = Useless, makes no difference with a scope.
Iron lungs = Ok, but don't like keep my head out long enough to hold breath that long, and if its another sniper your aiming at the quicker you take the shot the better. Plus looking out of the scope leaves you vulnerable as you cant see whats going on around you.
Deep impact = With the rifle you only aim for what you can see so if someone hiding behind something and you ain't got a clear shot, i don't shoot as you just give away your position with blind shooting. But when in CQC it comes in handy with the deagle shooting through walls, fences and so on and for this reason i would use deep impact.
Dead silence = Very useful for changing positions, and when you leave your camping spot to either attack or defend the bomb at the end of round (S&D).

iron lung over penetration anyday especially if the barrett is already powerful enough as it is.
it takes way longer to regain your breath with iron lungs than without it, ie you can steady your shots faster if theres multiple targets, its really quick without iron lungs. waste imo
I prefer iron lungs for a sniper rifle. Lets me pin people down for a longer period of time.

Actually all the sniper rifles have the same penetration, 50 cal doesnt have any more.TheAussieReaper wrote:

I use Iron Lungs since it's a little different sniping on the fagbox than PC.
