What is more to say? Is this a bug? is it my rig?

i'm running with a
AMD 64 x2 3800+
evga nforce4 SLI
evga e-Geforce 7800 GT
2 gigs of Ram

i used to run with a
AMD 3100 barton
1gig of ram
ATI x800xt or something.

I didn't start having issues until i upgraded to the new machine. I'm thinking it can possibly be the onboard lan?

i reformated my computer, reinstall all drivers, and only installed BF2 to try to narrow down the problem. And i would still get a connection lost.

I was able to earn about, 13,000 points on my old rig... but the last 1000 on the new rig has been painful.

I doubt it's my connection, becuase i'm still able to play on my laptop which is a
p4 3.2 ghz
1gig of ram
ati 9700 (i think)

.
Is there any websites which we can report these issues to? Or find out any information about the new patch? ETA?

I built the new rig just so i could play BF2 more.. and now, it doesn't even work.

it happens more othen then that.

like i could just join  game, pick my kit, take 2 steps forward.. and bamo. lost connection error.

or i could be playing for 20 mins, then bamo.

i'm going to pick up a PCI network card and slap it in, and hope it works.

I had this same problem...started up last week on Thursday.  I did reset my IP and connection through Windows, then noticed my ComCast cable was flickering through the weekend.  Sometimes they do updates that will cause this to happen.  Played for 3 hours straight last night without getting dropped once.  Previously I probably couldn't stay in a game for more than a miute or two.  I am hoping its nothing more serious than that.   Good Luck!

I used to get that EVERY time I joined a server and then it was fine on 2nd connect, Disabling AV helps (I know you've already said you did a format and only installed BF2 so thats got me stumped heh)

truthfully it has to do with your CPU. it isnt bad but XP(and specifically with BF2) do not like dual core cpu's on some things. i could type the fix and reason. ect. ect all out again but here is the write-up on a different forum that is the fix for dual core's. i had the same issue and this is the fix.

http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26259&page=7&highlight=constant+connection+loss

this has a link in it that will take you to a download page for the hotfix. do not forget to also create the registry key also as it says in my write up and make sure you set the value to "1" to enable it.

sure was frustrating for me also. i couldnt even stay connected to my local server 1 foot from my desktop on a gig lan. couldnt understand why it was dropping at first. was at a lan party and the same thing was happening to people with both intel and amd cpu's with dual cores. even some HT cpu's.   glad it fixed you also.

actually what i have found that fixed a constant connection loss is windows xp does not like dual core CPU's. from the looks of it most of you have either dual core or hyperthreaded CPUs and it causes a connection loss. there is a fix that you can edit into the registry or set the affinity for the game to use only one CPU( has to be done each time game is started). the registry fix is this:

1.Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.2.Right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager, point to New, and then click Key.3.Type Throttle for the new key name.4.Right-click Throttle, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.5.Type PerfEnablePackageIdle for the value name.6.Right-click PerfEnablePackageIdle, and then click Modify.7.In the Value data box, type 0. Make sure that Hexadecimal is selected in the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, and then click OK.

Note You can type 1 in the Value data box to enable the new performance state policy behavior.8.Quit Registry Editor.

that worked fine for me and now i dont get any connection loss unless the network drops or server crashes. i was getting them even on a local server 2 feet from my desk with a gigabit connection but now it's fine. this should fix quite a few problems with other games also."
