Anyways the new season started last week. Does anyone else watch? : The Deadliest Catch

What the hell are you guys watching? Shows got more to it then that. Dont think ive seen them say "The traps suck", as everyone uses the same damn pots, its just where you put them that matters.

Show rocks, as does crab, prefer it over lobster tbh

Can you describe to me how you eat them and what with along wth cooking them please?

They look awkward to eat but thats not enough to put me off as I love Garlic King Prawns and shelling them can be time consuming but well worth it.

As for the programme I do enjoy it but have only seen it once or twice in all the years its been on.

The quota's have been drasticly reduced. In the 70's we overfished the opie and king populations. Now, instead of the season lasting for a month or more, its lasts only a couple days.

This season...did anyone catch the fact that the crab population was "scattered" over the Bering floor? Everyone is drawing blanks...not even close to the fairly intense numbers we have seen.
Can you imagine pulling a king crab pot that had the kind of numbers in it they see with opies? 200 (or more) king crab in one pot...*whistles*

the opie/king seasons last more than a couple days, AFAIK, with quotas. with the derby season, it got down to 3 days, now I think the season can last a lot longer.

I use a towel to hold them and just snap them. If they don't break right I use a fork to perforate along the crease. I eat them with Garlic, lemon, and butter.
