Ummm, there are servers that have connections that make T3 look slow. Children wake up, 100 mbit connection, it will be fine. I have never "lagged" Even with my 512 MB ram gforce FX 5200 128 bit card. I have a 4-5 mbit connection myself. Now I have 1.5 gigs of ram, but I still have never lagged. Yes, I get shit FPS sometimes, BUT IT IS !!! NOT !!! LAG. Lag is where you have a 500 + ping and you skip around the map. FPS is where you can't look around cause your computer sucks. I get 40-120 pings all the time. Never lagged. 256 people does sound like alot I agree. I would start with 128 and work my way up. Or maybe 200. Why does it have to go in 16's? I've play 128 Renegade server, never lagged.

Anyway, the offical spelling in game is KARKAND, No L!! noob

This is not Bhawk down, though I love that movie.

This is Karkand, it's not under siege.

It has import armor producing factories which the USMC want to take form the MEC. So maybe, the siege idea would work. I think whoever his name was had a good idea of, 2 Uncappable USMC bases. 1 at top, 1 on an island with apc's and boats. Top left and bottom right. So mec has to defend  2 areas of attack. Spread the MEC flags out a bit. You will be capping one and have mec spawning next to your from the one across the street. Not cool.

Also, 128 mec spawning at the top bases wouldnt be bad. I'm assuming USMC would have armor, where as MEC would not. Couple engi's and 2 - 3 tanks and a few apcs. . and away we go. Put the "Factory" in the middle of the map with lots of MEC armor around it. Some tall building for sniper open areas for attacking rifles, cramped alleys for the GL whores, and you have your self a war.

Also to combat the noobs who will post "i want a chopper". You and 127 other people wants that chopper. Have  fun. Also the countless AT's grenades launchers and other noobs with assumably AA, if ther was a chopper, to shoot you down.

Anywho, your map have fun with it. . and submit it to EA when your down cause I'd play it on a Ranked server.

looks sweet, u should make the map work for special forces so we can use the grappling hooks and ziplines, cause seriously, navagation through that city will be hell lol.

gr8 input! That was exactly the reason i didn't want choppers in, because there would be lots of ppl just waiting for them, and teamkilling etc.

I would balance the vehicles, so that there are equal amounts of tanks and apcs. at the moment i'm thinking of 3 U.S. spawn points, one cappable. there would be 1 tank, 1 apc and 2 humvees at each flag


at this moment the diffiucult problem is placing mounted MGs and TOWs at the right loactions.

I think, instead of having 3 US bases, have 2 US bases, but have a third spawn point that starts you off in the air, and you have to parachute down, like in Warlord. That would make for some fun gaming.

I don't play SF much . . but from what I remember that was fun. Cept ROFL!! Could you imagine the first couple of games the noobs that didnt realize. . oh parechute! Which button was that again? Lol. Just masses of bodies falling to there doom.

Arty is gonna ruin all hope of intense firefights....

Hate to say it but artillery needs a serious nerf for this to work unless you like to see your lifeless limp body flying through the air every 60 seconds RIGHT as you get in a really fun firefight.

Because having 1 of 14 flags make the points go down faster than you think and also spawn points would be overspawned all the time. and this one is in the corner of the map so the enemy can ues sniper to take out the enemies that tries to run to other flags
Second, right now there are 3 roads in to the first flag, wich would name those streets "Hells road" a good option.
Thrid about 128 players at the start would lag. Ever tried 128 map with bots? as soon you get in sight it starts to lag, you can barely do anything. But that might be only against bots. still it will lag.

The reason most people like Karkland ( wether they realize it or not ) Is that it is the Narrowist map. Thats why you get such good gun fights. head to head battles. Just make it longer. Make the Main bases Really defendable. This makes the battle real and it lasts longer. Your server will have people waiting in line.

If you leave it wide like this Half the people wont see eachother. It will be like playing hide and seek or running bases. PS what do you need to Make maps ?

Thrid about 128 players at the start would lag. Ever tried 128 map with bots? as soon you get in sight it starts to lag, you can barely do anything. But that might be only against bots. still it will lag.
All lag is coming from the server, and the server is quite powerful then one i have valible. It currently runs 2x64 players maps + 1x32, all slots full, no lag at all.

No, because the area is so big and infantry moves fast around the streets. that means it's easy to find cover and escape the arty.

people, stop being immature kids.  i was referring to serverside lag, imposed onto the player.  i have a killer pc, and i dont get lag from my end, i DO get it from over stressed servers...

256 man server? thats gonna take HAL9000 to run if u dont want lag.

Great idea but my computer can't barely handle 64 players. I can't imagine the computing power needed to properly handle 256 players.

one thing I want to comment on as far as lag goes is that it should be fine if you keep the players local. USA/Canada, Euro, Austrailia. it's a pain playing a server practically right next door but you have 10 people on it who think it's great to play with 500 ping.

As I said, the server is a Quad opteron 2.2 GHz with 8GB ram and 100mbit dedicated line

Paradrop point in the lower left corner. And have the central MEC base in the middle (but you can only capture the MEC mian if you have ....14?  other MEC bases. (Kinda like a push map)

It's not about your connection, it's about server connection.. And T3 is 44 Mbit and higher connections btw ('till 150 Mbit or something and then come other connection type). And you are calling some one noob? Looks like you are only noob here. BF2 is heavy game and it need much of bandwidth and damn good computer to running server. So what we need to run 256 players server? 1 player need at least 512 kbps bandwidth so it mean at least 128 mbit connection, AT LEAST. So sometihing like 200 M/200 M is required. And what kind of computer is needed to run this map? No idea but that computer will be damn expensive and it need newest CPU and it must be overlocked and it need much of memory too of course. So it's not impossible to run this map, but it's hard to find computer what can run this server, connection isn't that big problem.

the server there you have is a super computer this map will be fun and i dont care if its ranked or unranked i live in the UK with 24MB braodband and a upload of 17MB so i cant see me getting any lag at all, i play US servers all the time and have a ping 32 not ever gone higher (exept when downloading porn) my computer would run this easily i cant wait to play, if you want any testing done let me know and im there i dont care about time zones

Well 256...make it a 1024 slot server...called the WORLD BF2 SERVER 1 map PER 24 HOURS!
(ok fokes i,m not going to fantasise but what ''IF'' it was posible to have a really Good 1024 Slot server (maybe in the far Future))

3200 tickets (that gonna be long)
and everone a ping of 1 till 100
