Well who was it then?
A bigger god. Duh.
How long until "God is all powerful and has always existed"?

Noone. God was always there, he was not created. He is the beginning, middle, and end.

You know, a thread with this exact title in JD was one of the last victims of the lolcats disease (and for that I claim partial responsibility...)
Let us hope that this is more constructive, and does not meet a similar end.

The idea of a created God, imo, defeats the very purpose of God.

The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.

I'll tell you who created God after the 50th response.

I'd say noone God was already there. It'd be the same when someone would be asked who created the universe, right? Something or someone was already there.
God created himself, by accident.
Man did create God.
When you are all alone out there in a dangerous world, when noone will help you, it's good to rely on something bigger then life to take away all threats.
That's why people in Europe loose their faith, social security > God

Are you talking about the traditional christian/jewish/muslim perception of God? Or the actual idea of it?
If the first then simply the scriptures, am sure these people had there own gains and losses to be had out of what they wrote (or atleast the guy ''writing'' there pay checks did).
If the second then that isnt exactly something that can be claimed. Things are open to interpritation, it is my belief that whatever it was that created the universe, was put into a context that the masses could understand by the scriptures, hence, a santa clause type figure up in the sky spitting out vengance and ''love'' every so often.

One fine day our ancestors will look back and lol at the fact that we believed in gods. It's a shame I won't be there to see it.
