M14 or G3??

I love my M14 with red tiger camo and red dot sight with stopping power. A lethal combination indeed, two shots to the chest = dead.

But recently I tried my hand at the G3 and thought to myself what has the M14 got that the G3 doesnt? Witth stopping power the G3 also kills in two shots, and going by the stats it is more accurate and has far less recoil which can sometimes be a put off with the M14.

The M14 does sound awesome though, the G3 sounds disappointing, much like a wet fart.

I'm still undecided. Thoughts? Opinions?

On my first character I really liked using G3 + Silencer, Stopping power (or UAV Jammer sometimes), and whatever third perk. It was very effective, especially on hardcore (this was back in the days before I realized how much HC sucks).

Also, I like the G3's sights, whereas I absolutely hate the M14's.

G3 fo sure, especially with the silencer. It doesn't even look like you are shooting. M14 is good with the ACOG scope imho.

I have had more luck with the G3 in CQC compared to the M14.

I have had better experience with this gun, compared to M14. Unless the first shot is registered as headshot, the following shot is required to neutralize the enemy. M14 has a higher probability miss the second shot due to the massive recoil that has prolonged effect on the weapon accuracy for a short duration of time. G3 reacquires its target after its shots and the recoil has little to no effect on weapon in terms of accuracy at most times.

HOWEVER, unlike many other people, I have had BETTER experience in CQC with M14, somehow...

Edit: Clarification - Situations when headshot is not registered.
1. Missed shot, or a body shot
2. Distance too far, and person using J perk.

Double Tap does not help any semi automatic weapon in CoD4. It does help on the M16 but that's another story.
I like the M14 but I rarely use either of them.

Sounds disappointing (read: quiet), but just as good as the M14 without the recoil. I find I can fire off 3 rounds as quick as 1 from the M14.

Normal, G3, since you can aim better with the decreased recoil and better sights.

Depends.

with stopping power, M14 will drop in two chest shots, or 1 headshot.

It's accurate, powerful and consistant.

The G3 will typically drop in 3 body shots, or 2 headshots (with stopping power)

It has minimal recoil, but is a bitch to get headshots with.

IF you can handle the recoil of the M14, it's the better rifle.
