Had my game on preorder, it arrived last Thursday. Completed the campaign on normal on Sunday. Now, Ive just finished it on both Hard and Elite at the same time (played each mission back through on hard, then elite straight after = double kills and XP ).

The game, on campaign at least, is very very easy, even on elite. I used Assistance Off on 1 level (Washington) just for the sake of it, and at other points just to get the achievement. Perhaps its of use in MP? (yet to try it).

I also very rarely used ERS, and as a result, have never scored a single air-to-air kill using it, and I also can't figure out how it works! Everytime I try to use it for air targets, it just fades out after a few seconds...

Tis a great game, <3 all the aircraft...but the game just seems to lack something.

Just played the demo, reminded me of Ace Combat, good game.

But what is with this "assistance" shit, it makes everything 10 times harder

The assistance off really makes teh game much much much much much much fun to play.
It's so awesome to see you jet doing an instant 180° turn and then shoot 2 missiles right after and see the enemy jet explode.
Ubisoft Romania, GREAT FUCKING JOB!!!!!
I love this game.

Though I'm not too sure, I think the ERS for tracking aircraft fades if you're outside the pipe for more than a few seconds. I encountered a similar issue on the night bombing mission in the F-117, flew out of the pipe and got annhilated.

Finished the game though, so now I'm gonna rack up ma points and get me some planes

I never use it.
Even like when i have to hit tanks in between buildings i just go straight up and then turn assistance off do 180° turn, turn assistance on and then one rocket at the tank, boom gone.

I used assistance off sometimes, but I prefer assistance on tbh. I find it hard to focus the center of my plane on the enemy when in AOFF mode, making lock-ons difficult.

I use assistance on when i have to hit like ground targets or i have to hit some jets in particular.
But when things get busy/messy/shitty i use assistance off for some serious ass kicking.

They should just provide Assistance Off cockpit view, then I would be absolutely happy...

In big air battles with lots of aircraft I'll use Assistance Off, also to help evade missiles. Attacking ground targets I'll do with Assistance On. If something's obscure by buildings I go into 3rd person Assistance On, holding the View Target button and guide myself from there, basically up and over, straight down.

I use AOn, and just enter turning circles whilst engaging the air-brake...no missile has ever hit me whilst doing this. The AI continue to fly at normal/accelerated speed, so you always catch them up! Not sure if its a bug, but its funny as hell, and lethal when combined with AllAspects. Even when engaged with 15+ fighters on elite, you can take them all out and not take a hit

I also noticed that I no longer get the option to choose between normal/expert setting for AOff mode like I did on the demo...did that not make it into the final game? I don't even recall it being there when I first went through the game.

Ditto that. Its also incredibly hard to change targets, i.e. priority ones. I was using AOff on the ME map defending the refinery, trying to get the hang of it. I was targeting the tanks when the bombers appeared over the cliffs. After a few mins of trying to change focus from the tanks to the bombers, I gave up and went back to AOn.

I managed to get 2 kills with it earlier, I was quite surprised. Ive noticed that if you are in a turning circle of any kind, it disappears, even if you go through it. Ive used it on maps with skyscrapers for the tanks (i.e. on Rio), but thats about it. Ive just hit Major...level 27

Assistance ON = Cockpit View/First Person View/ 3rd Person (close shot) follow camera
Assistance Off = 3rd person (long shot) non-follow camera

its a good game from what i hear but its too arcady. i remember the days of microprose when they were making f-15 and f-117 titles. those were air combat games. and Jane's F-15 back in the 1998 was a kick butt game but i did not like the fact that 90 percent of your cockpit controls was done via mouse.

lock on: modern air combat would probably be a good thing for you

a nice balance of flight simulator and combat sim

I tried the demo.

What I liked

- Nothing, even my FS9 has better graphics and detail.

What I hated

- In the tutorial, when I was asked to shoot drones from a wingman point of view, I litteraly told myself: What the fuck is this shit!? Do these people really want me to control a fighter jet from wingman view?!
But honestly, I'm the simulator guy, so if you are not like me, this review won't matter, you will love it. For people who have flight simulation as a hobby or passion, there might be problems because.

Well you would be wrong.
Assistance off gives you rather annoying 3rd person camera.

Played the demo as well, didnt like the assistance off thingy, so I prefer Bf2 Flying above Hawx.
