I wasn't really impressed. A slightly more polished version of Ace Combat. Just not as cool a storyline.

The whole safety off shit is nice, but other than that, it's identical to Ace Combat. It's actually easier than it.

I have too, but I replayed the Rio map and unlocked the Harrier...so Ill be playing some more very shortly

I played the original (Air Combat) on the PS1, and then the demo of 2...then I got the demo of 6, so I cant judge...but from the demo of 6, I tend to agree somewhat. Can you stall-turn in Ace Combat? Love doing that on HAWX Btw, how can you judge the storyline of HAWX yet when its just a demo?

Because nothing will beat the epic storyline of Ace Combat.

All these flying games will always be the same. Ace Combat perfected it, now all the other games can only recreate that perfection.

Tried the demo and have to say its alot of fun when you use the cool assistance off camera thing.
Watching your plan doing crazy acrobatics in mid air and then do a 180° turn right before a missile hits is awesome!!!!!
But when i'm playing the regular assistance on mode its boring tbh.
I have mixed feelings....

I was very disappointed with HAWX.

The only selling point of the game for me was 3rd person mode, so called "Assistance Off mode" (why the hell is this assistance off?), and the Tom Clancy (ish) story. Judging from playing the demo, 3rd person mode flying was decent at best.It basically felt like Ace Combat 6 with flares (which is basically useless unless flying a super low agility planes) with dumbed down graphics.

I have always liked the Ace Combat, but the storyline were a little cheesy. I hope the storyline for HAWX is good at least.

I probably end up buying the game but I just can not drop the disapointment.

I was actually surprised by it, tbh. When I saw the first gameplay videos and learned it would be more of an arcade flight game than a simulator I was extremely disappointed. Then I played the demo and was quite pleasantly surprised. Assistance Off mode is there so you can "turn on a dime", as they say. Try braking and holding the left joystick in a direction. You'll turn around near instantaneously. It's quite cool.

I'm almost definite I'm gonna switch my pre-order to the 360 now, though.
