well my vista went to crap and i had to reformat and i decided to install Xp back on this machine and use it as a server. because im getting my last part soon. and now im trying to access my spare HD my music and software drive and i cant bc of its protection from vista. how can i access it

anyone know how to fix this? also does vista have a protection of some sort were it only works on vista bc i want to transfer these hardrive to my 64-bit system

Use 3rd party software. I recommend Acronis Disc director. (Although technically it isn't free)

If I recall correctly from a news story, freezing the HDD then hitting it unlocks it. I read the article in the Associated Press.

i got it to work. i just needed to install vista on my other hd and pop it in. i guess vista does have a encryption were the secondary hd is not backwards compatible
