That is one reason the F-22 can engage enemies before they know it's there...
It is also part of the F-22's dogfighting ability.  Aggressor pilots got rather pissed when they could visually acquire the F-22, but NOT get a radar lock on it...no radar lock=no AMRAAM kill...

Can't dogfight nearly as well.

And im not so much against the F22 as i am against the unnecessary cost that is put into the stealth.  The cost would probably be cut in half and its unlikely there would be any effect in A2A performance. Its just too early for such an excessive addition; it probably wont even be needed as the F22 detects its enemies and destroys them much earlier than any other and most AA would be destroyed in the opening hours.
As if the stealth has no role in this?
Correct me if i am wrong but the F22 has a BVR radar that is significantly farther reaching than any other fighter.

um, no.  the f15 is old.  we don't make anymore.  its falling apart in the sky.  we need new planes.
The new MiGs, EuroFighter and the new J10 can out maneuver the F15.

No...the biggest part of a BVR engagement is being able to detect, track, and engage before the other guy knows you are there. Stealth is just as key to that formula as an enhanced radar. While the Raptor's radar is truly advanced, you can't discount the stealth aspect's criticality.

Using radar isnt that great of a idea either, it warns the other pilot and they can figure out your general area from where the radar hits.

That is totally dependent upon the type of radar. The more advanced radars today can scan without setting off RAW gear.

Which is why F-22s have data-links.  Another F-22 (or AWACS) can feed data to an undetected F-22.  Flying one F-22 ahead, while one sits farther back and acquires targets is one of the more talked about tactics among armchair generals.

That's assuming they can get close enough for the merge...
