Now, can anyone show me step by step how to  get that answer? I don't remember the rules for such math anymore... If the numbers were the same it would be no problem. Then I would just add up the numbers and their.... potens (?) minus the numbers and their potens (?) under the line.

But when the numbers are different, I'm not sure how to do it. Any ideas?

The answer is 3^2. So I want to find out how I get that answer. The closest I've come so far is: 3^2*2^-2.

6^2*18 ^3 = (3*2) ^ 2*( 3* 3*2)^2= 2*3*2*3*3*3*2*3*3*2*3*3*2 = 2^5*3^8

54^2*8 = (2*3*3*3)^2*(2^3) =  2*3*3*3*2*3*3*3*2*2*2 = 2^5*3^6

=>  2^5*3^8/2^5*3^6 = 3^2
