Be careful who you frag. Having eliminated all terrorism in the real world, the U.S. intelligence community is working to develop software that will detect violent extremists infiltrating World of Warcraft and other massive multiplayer games, according to a data-mining report from the Director of National Intelligence.

The Reynard project will begin by profiling online gaming behavior, then potentially move on to its ultimate goal of "automatically detecting suspicious behavior and actions in the virtual world."

To be fair, it's not a bad idea for terrorists to use MMORPG's or other online games to communicate. It's relatively annonymous and openly talking about organising attacks etc is obviously going on all the time and would be difficult to differentiate from the actual game given some appropriate changes in nomenclature to fit it with the game.

It's nowhere near April Fools yet and already we're getting ridiculous articles like this? Oh well, it's nice to know that the U.S. eliminated all terrorism in the real world. I've probably been watching too much news or something to notice it.

Agreed

Someone add Blizzard to this list and make it official. I nominate ATG.

edit: You could argue that Blizzard is doing the world a favour by cleansing the gene pool (no, not that ausfag bf2s member) by taking WoW bitches out of society.

I tried the trial version. I couldn't stand it. I might've logged up about 15 minutes of play before I got sick of it and deleted it. I don't see the appeal.

Then again, I'm the type of person who likes his CoD series/BF2/MGS/GTA/Gran Turismo/Burnout etc.. you know, man games.

WoW can breed allot of dangerous and evil people who could turn into terrorists.

It is not a large step from virtual terrorism to real-life terrorism.

And people in WoW are showing behaviors of terrorists, see video for more details

Just had a thought as to what if this spread to other MMO's, Star Wars Galaxies in particular, I mean the civil war in it is an empire againest a collection of terrorists, would suck to be a Rebel Player then...

Cool guys! Hey, you know what would be an awesome idea. Let's make a law that takes all guns out of games! That way, we can reduce gun-related crime!

Data mining is a pathetically flawed method of finding bad guys. Every penny spent on it is wasted.
