What's the point of a super-thin TV when it's got that huge box underneath?

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

It is a LOT better with a box!

When you mount your TV on a wall, you won't have ugly DVD/Xbox/Playstation/etc cables running up the wall and making it ugly.

I'm not saying that it shouldn't come with a stand, I'm saying that having a 3mm monitor over a 40mm monitor if it's to stand on a 30x20cm box is completely and utterly useless. The thickness only comes to use if you're gonna mount it on a wall.
