The Pens and Caps game tonight in about 3 minutes will be a fun one to watch.. next game for both will be the Winter Classic

Haven't watched a single episode yet.

Completely not interested. It's just the NHL showing off their posterboys. I respect the talent of Crosby, but I don't want him to be thrown in my face every 3 seconds by the NHL.

Ya don't really care for the 24/7 thing either. The Winter Classic is all good and fun, just don't particularly find it interesting to watch a show that follows players from the Caps and Pens on the road to the Winter Classic.

Adam Larsson is slipping away

I actually hope they end up 2nd to last. I just can't handle last place again. I'm fine with either Couturier or Larsson - but I REALLY can see Couturier on the Devils.

Sigh. This defense is like swiss cheese.

With Martinek and Streit out it's amazing they haven't given up 100 shots.

it would be against the Islanders...

Anyway, I justed watched the 3rd episode of the 24/7 Pens Caps series on HBO and I am defiantly overly enjoying it.  I hate both teams, especially the Pens, but I am starting to not hate each team...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.  Need. To. Put. On. Mike. Richards. Jersey.

Yeah, I watched it today too after pretty much boycotting the first two. It's pretty good. Reminds me of Hard Knocks, but I suppose that was the intention.

Can't wait for them to show the Isles snapping Crosby's streak on HBO next week. Some good, and MUCH needed press for the Isles. Maybe it'll bring a new arena

Actually, speaking of which... the old barn had 14.5K today (which is pretty high considering ticket prices and the state of the team) and WOW was it rocking. Makes me miss the old days.

I remember being there. There was NOTHING like it. People can talk shit about the Coliseum, but it is designed so perfectly with acoustics that nothing comes close. Absolutely nothing.

I could see the Coliseum being a stadium with great acoustics, but it just reminds me of an enlarged oval/ shitty division three hockey arena that adds nothing to the Islanders' organization. "Hey Mr. Free Agent, come play for the Islanders, we have a great staff and an even better facility..."

Then again, this is coming from a person who feels bad for the Islanders, has never watched the Islanders play (except against the Flyers), and has never been to that stadium.

And the reason why 14.5K fans were there:
http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendance
...look at the Penguins road attendance.

The Islanders don't even average 10K fans per game...
On a more positive note, at least you guys won a cup in the past 30 years...

No offense, but you haven't been to the Coliseum. It's an incredible arena when there's a great product on the ice. When nobody shows there's really not much else you can do.

And I don't know, I saw a LOT of Isles fans in the stands. Not too many Pens fans. Now Canadiens fans on the other hand... They pretty much filled up the 3500 or so there that night due to the blizzard.

And yes, those 4 cups in a row and the Isles being a powerhouse in the 80's is something to be proud of... but since '94, only three/four years the Isles have been respectable. '01-02, '02-03, '06-07. That's it. Every team that's bad now (Edmonton, New Jersey, Calgary) has seen the Stanley Cup within the past 10 years. The Isles haven't gotten to the second round in 16 years. It's sad.

Oo! Bates. Wish he would've been in shape when he was here His play was awsum to watch even tho he was probably slower on skates than me at the time

Speaking of Habs fans. I remember a couple years ago when we were at the Ranger game going up the escalators the locals started to mess around with the Canada folks. "So, eh. You think you have chance tonight, eh?". I was trying not to laugh too much on the way up

His groin was so fucked after '04. Dunno why the Isles kept him around for as long as they did. Nostalgic purposes I suppose.

I love the 24/7 series.  It's pretty fucking solid insight.  Could do without the narration though.  I think it adds a small level of cheesiness to an otherwise polished documentary.

YES.  We defiantly needed to put up 7 goals after getting demolished our previous two games. JVR, Richards, Giroux...everyone had a great game (except maybe carcillo...). I'm glad Richards put up some points.

Michael Leighton played his first game in the NHL since...since...since game 6 of the cup finals...dark times.  He let in two, maybe three easy goals, but I expected that, he still needs to shake off that rust.  Now we have 3 goalies and TBH, Bob has slowly gotten worse over the season and BOOOSH has been playing OK.  I hope a goalie steps it up and I hope that Richards gets a little point streak going, I think it would defiantly make things easier for the rest of the team.

In 48 hours... the Isles have beaten the best team in the East, and the best team in the West

Only 16 pts out... lol

When I saw that the Islanders beat the Wings in OT, I noticed they are 4-1 in their past 5.  Contenders?

Flyers beat the Wings 3-2 today in Detroit.  BOOSH looked great and Carcillo got his second of the season!

Hah, yeah right. It's nice to see them winning but the playoffs are not a reality this season. Not with the injuries to Okposo and Streit which absolutely killed them.
