Ok, so whenever i join a bf2 server i get this lag that is absolutely horrible, not ping, not fps, dont know what the hell it is, but have a fair mind to say its punkbuster. It lasts for 5mins and 23 secs Exactly, then it stops and i come out of my hiding corner and fight... i have 2GB Ram, e6600, 2900xt, And a raid0 setup and i am on Vista 32bit... and it isnt a graphics card problem either, on my old 1950xt i had the same problem. Ive tried uninstalling punkbuster completely and installing it again and no luck. i join a non-pb server i dont get the lag, i join a pb-server i get the lag... some people have had this same problem as i do but never have found a solution. Please help me!

Edit: I also have tried changing the affinity for bf2 to run on 1 core which was posted somewhere else to help the problem and change the resolution
which also failed to work.

A bit of lag is totally normal at the beginning of every round.
But with your specs it should not happen.
Try it it single player. If you have the same problem there, it´s your system, if not it´s something with your connection.

It isnt a bit of lag, its the kind of lag that moves you the opposite way you want to and usually the lag stops my game for like 2 seconds, thats how bad it is, like i said, it lasts for 5mins 23 secs.

do you have some antivirus program installed? maybe it scans all accessed files, which would include the bf2 map file. it is a zip compressed file, so the antivirus would have to extract it, that scan could take a while.

you can try to disable it for a game

BUMP!

I have this same issue EXACTLY. I have done all the pre-req defrags, virus, firewall, drivers, pb_sleep, ALL that I can do including running PBSetup to download the newest update so I dont have to get it from the server.

Each time I join a new server, shortly after the round starts some process begins to access my Hard Drive. I can see it Flashing and my game video and sounds become choppy untill this process has stopped. I have not timed it exactly but 5 mins into the round I start getting really pissed it has not yett stopped.

As SOON as this process stops my game runs SMOOTH like butter! Like it always used to, like it always should!

Again, once this process stops my system runs a scalded dog. Its not my system, its not the operating system, its not the HD.

Whoever has a fix for this problem gets a FREE dinner on at Rosco's Chicken and Waffles!

Step up Player!!
