It’s not an official Obama campaign video. In fact, I don’t think the Obama campaign was involved at all. But it’s based on Sen. Barack Obama’s New Hampshire “Yes, We Can” speech, an address that just might wind up in the history books. The Black Eye Peas’ will.i.am wrote the song after hearing that speech, and the video looks like a Hollywood and music industry yearbook. The speech is uplifting, the song is perfectly matched and performed, the imagery set to accompany it is cast in black and white and gray to emphasize the divide that Obama plans to heal.

The clenched fist salute that accompanies the “Si, se puede!” chant is a bit divisive, though. It’s at 1:57 in.

I came into this thread thinking it was a music video for the shittiest Guitar Hero song ever...

Was a good video. And I'm glad they showed people of all races, showing that we can unite, rather than the typical videos that show only one race and demand them to overthrow and blah blah.

I could have misinterpreted it. Si se puede was made famous by the United Farm Workers. It's the only time the video went outside the tone of unity. Other than that I think the video was incredible.

You misunderstand my point. Right or wrong doesn't matter. It did a near perfect job of staying completely neutral and focusing around the lost American spirit. That's extremely tough to do without hinting at some sort of policy position. Obama may be the best candidate for unity. We need that more than ever.

Again it may have been incidental.

I can't figure out if ATG is playing religion or race here with his insinuations. Even if Obama isn't the right candidate, I don't think he has a hidden agenda to seek retribution.

And I also agree that Obama is what's needed for unity, and unity is what we need the most right now.

Every other politician is busy throwing insults at other people. Hillary even attacked Obama with bullshit, and then, when he defended himself, she accused him of changing his strategy.

Let's just examine one thing about Obama and that is UHC.

People think this means they will suddenly get free health care. He said in the debate when asked the other night, and i paraphrase;
Q what about those who, under a universal healthcare plan, opt to not pay into the system, what happens when thy get services?

A: We will make them pay back premiums.

Perhaps I am exploiting every angle, but think about it; every American reading this now who does not pay for health insurance; if the dems get there way you will. soon.

That's what universal healthcare will mean, among other things; another payroll deduction.

Bob Marley's transliteration of Haile Selassie's speech to the U.N. General Assembly is the best speech put to music ever (War). Still, this was a pretty good little video. I liked the cameos - especially Scarlett Johannson, is she hot or what?

It is a rather powerful speech, especially when put to music. Obama is definitely charismatic, which will help him a lot. We will se how he fares this Tuesday. I am thinking I may vote for him in the primary - seeing as the Republicans have locked out their primary ballots to independent voters. I still don't see myself voting for him in the General Election, but I guess he still has a good amount of time to convince me.
