Patton (Jesus how can nobody have mentioned Patton?)
Fuckin' MIDWAY for the win. An INCREDIBLE cast, real action, true to life, possibly the best war movie ever.

Some of those movies y'all listed (Braveheart, FMJ, et al) are great but show some respect for the true classics.

how is it that german tanks (panther, tiger, königstiger, panzer IV, leopard I and II) look so much cooler than other nations' tanks?unnamednewbie13 wrote:

Most have been mentioned already so I wont make a list, but I have 2 more worth mentioning.
Taegukgi hwinalrimyeo - its a South Korean movie about the Korean War. Absolutely great story and really great action scenes. Some say better than S.P.Ryan.
No Mans Land - Its a war drama, so its not action packed like the Korean one. It won an Oscar for best foreign movie in 2002.

Hollywood also has to tone down, say injuries etc, like the effects of someone getting hit by a bullet are far less than real life. Like on Shooter, where the guy gets assassinated with the M82, theres a bit of blood splat from his head. Upon watching the special features and the interview with the sniper advisor he said that at that range the bullet would literally come down on top of his head and make him explode.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

Didn't see too many people mention "The Longest Day" which, for me, has to be one of the greatest war movies of all time.
But not as historically-accurate as Jet Li's Hero.Villain{NY} wrote:

The Ninth Legion, about russian invasion of afghanistan
Pretty much all Hollywood war films are blatant American propaganda thoughThe_Mac wrote:
