I use number keys personally.

i use the buttons on the side of my MX518... front one for knife (number 1), rear one for main weapon (number 3).

Easiest way to switch between the two quickly imo.

Diffrent games have diffrent weapons. Some games have main weapon as number 1. Some at number 3. Some games have 9 weapon slots instead of 5-6 etc.

in css thats all i use, i use the wheel to swap but q 99% of the time to flip between. I can't awp with the scroll wheel.

scroll up = pistol; scroll down = medpack, C4, mine etc.; mouse button 5 (i am not sure) = grenades, F = defibs, scroll wheel click = primary weapon; 1 = knife .... Works best for me

try and flip awp/knife with a number key and you'll answer that yourself.

i have that to pick,and after that ill set my second to my pistol (with my wheel) and go back and forth with that and the awp/ak/m4 with 'q'

i used the buttons in bf2, but css is all ive played for 4 months or something.

Scroll wheel when I was a nub, then I started using mouse button 5 for knife, and then using F to switch. I got pretty efficient at pressing mouse 5, F, F really fast to switch to main weapon. Then I started medic whoring and decided it took to long to press F five times, so I trained myself to use the number keys for everything. In CoD4, I just use F since it only switches between main and pistol.

Have the scroll wheel doing its job of switching between weapons as usual, but this just isnt quick enough. So what I do is I have various keys assigned to various weapons.

in BF2,

left alt = Pistol
F = Primary weapon (which also doubles as fire mode)
one of the buttons on my mouse = granade.

means I can switch between the common weapons very quickly.
