The theme uses no resources. I managed to unlock uxtheme.dll or whatever and use any .msstyles theme.
TopDesk (the flipping thing) uses 23,000K or memory, but I enabled the option to disable it when playing games.

Yeah, I know there is a lot more to Vista than just it's looks and features. I don't have a DX10 card anyway.

Well I'm gunna go play CoD4 now, shouldn't be too bad. Like I said, the theme uses no resources, only the 3D flip thing does, but I can disable it during a game automatically.

Hopefully there's a more stable version out then what was available 10 months ago.

i hate vista because there are no drivers that work for my graphics card (nvidia 7900gt) and nvidia is to lazy to get off their asses and make one

Yes, I am aware most of these issues have been fixed/resolved. I still see no point to buy it right now.

And I see no point going out of my way getting xp onto my new computer.

It's definatly Microsoft's fault if Nvidia doesn't make drivers for certain vid cards...

Did you install them correctly? Remove the old drivers first, reboot, install new drivers?

I installed the drivers right after I got done with the vista installation

its happened to a bunch of people with the same card
