Ok I'm gonna say it.

Nobody will really help, because you can't gain shit from helping out that country. Someone tell me what you would gain if you helped out Sudan.

If there was something to gain, someone. China, Russia, NATO, India whoever would've done something proper by now. But, if that place turned into the Sudan ocean tomorrow the world would barely slowdown if not none at all. It's sad but it's the truth. But you can understand it, a proper mission into Sudan would be so fucking expensive. And to do it based on goodwill for the Sudanese, even the most richest of countries (aka USA) would surely spend the money on its own rather than a place of little to no value such as Sudan.

Don't ask me what economic value Afghanistan had and we still went there to save the Afghans because that's a different story and scenario.

That's what I think. To sum it up. Sudan aint worth shit. In the real world.

Hell lets send our already stretched thin, tired military to another country.  I've got 6 Months on IRR.  I'm game for another deployment to some shithole I don't care about.

It's not the same.  Saddam was an asshole but he had the country controlled.  Darfur is a mess.  And I don't want the US to intervene, but the UN to do something.

I personally would not want intervention, because it would be the same thing as in Iraq: little to no respect to the troops (initially at least) and no respect for the government, as it couldn't handle it on its own. What you almost have to do is supply someone in the country who can stop it. Someone has to win the respect.

Problem with supplying, on the other hand, is that it has backfired quite often...

put it this way, its the same to those who manufacture bullets.  you get it.   you cant pick and choose.  you cant say "this war is just, that isnt"  because the out come is the same.  bad shit.  people dying. boo hoo.  the world doesnt guarantee a human being shit.  security, health, shelter.  none of that shit is in the contract.  be glad youre in Argentina where you could decide what is right and what isnt.  because in the real world, where things like darfur happen, there is no distinction.

I think I can say the Iraq War is wrong.  I don't know what outcome a war in Sudan could have.  I know they need help.  If there's no distinction, then they can't help themselves.

Still no reply as to what could possibly be gained from making Sudan stable. Anyone?

I'm going to say there is fuck all unless anyone else can say otherwise.

Digiflauge?  or Oldschoolglowinthedarkwithnvgs-flauge.

I think we'll maybe be able to go to conidition three.  Alteast we wouldn't have to worry about IEDs.

Unless it escalated onto a scale never before seen in history. That alone is not enough to make any country spend so many resources on sorting the place out.

Sad, twisted. Call it what you want, that's just how shit is. (Obviously I don't like stuff like that, and I don't agree with it, but you gotta understand the other side and view it from the perspective of the various nations that could do something)

Everyone knows what's to gain from getting Iraq stable + on your side.

I made several threads about Iraq and how wrong Bush was about this war.  Now there's a civil war, but the violence seems to curb somehow there.

Well that would cause a whole other mess.  At least go in, wipe these fuckers out, and give these people a fresh start.  If peace only lasts for 5 years, at least they had that.
Yeah, but how? Troops on the ground and/or flying planes+gunships into it? Darfur is in the middle of Africa and i dont know if the surrounding countries are pro US/UN or not, but i would think we would need a place to launch from. Iraq is too far away, like 1700 miles. Our bombers could reach it but you cant win entirely from the air.

I think the whole thing is a bad idea though, if you fix this country you have to fix the rest in Africa or its just going to start again.

War is simple.  Politicians make it hard.

You tell a group of Marines (or Army or whatever)  There is the enemy.  Go kill them.  Guess what, it would be that simple.  But, when your enemy has no repercussions for their actions, and you have a shitload of restrictions, then shit gets complicated.

The UN should go over to Darfur... for once the US shouldn't be the chief police / peacekeeping force.
