My personal top five stupid cut incidents:
1. Asking a (female) friend, in the train, whether I was still bleeding (I was). I cut myself shaving that morning and it damn well didn't stop.
2. Finding out that a piece of cloth I used wasn't as strong as I initially thought, cutting right through it and slicing my fingers. I was actually grinding and polishing the blade and I like my knives sharp, thus when I cut my finger the acid I used for polishing was directly inserted into the wound.
3. Having a circle-hole saw stop on my finger nail.
4. Actually stabbing myself in the finger. I was stealing wicker branches (can't remember for what) from some farmer's property and as I hid because he came around, I wasn't as carefull as I should have been.
5. Licking an envelope and cutting my tongue with the paper.
I usually have cuts in the palm of my hand as well; when I'm engraving a piece of wood I just grip a knife by the blade for better control of the point. If you hold it correctly with the correct tension, you won't cut very deep, just superficially and I don't do it will all types of knives either (e.g. NOT with V-grinded freshly acid polished ones). It's not really stupid, just being though

With this new one? Nah. The doc threw some of those temporary/dissovable stitches on it and called it a day. Just adhesive. I tried to throw just a normal bandage on it myself, but when I took the towl off after holding it down tight for a few minutes and it still bled bad, I knew it was too deep to just stay home, I needed it sealed better.dayarath wrote:

When I got the stitches for my car-destroyed finger, though, hahahaha ... doc stuck my finger with litacaine (numbing agent) three times, then went to work. Each time he threaded the needle, he would ask "You feel that?" and I said "No". Then he got about half-way there and he said, "Feel that?" and I said "YES!!!!!". My friends with me said I practically fucking levitated off the hospital bed, hahahaha. Then he came back and stuck me AGAIN! Ugh. Bad day, that was.

I nicked my finger on the lid of a can on Thanksgiving. Ate turkey with a nice bandage. Was about the same as mitch, took a few weeks to finally close.

the can opener sucked ass and it skipped 2 spots at 6 oclock and 8 oclock around the can lid. so i grabbed the other side that was cut and was prying back to bend the lid up enough to dump into a smaller container, well.. i was pulling super hard and it slipped and cut right into my hand. Dont know what ever happened to that can of ketchup i probly got blood in it. hah

I took a chunk out of my right hand ring finger when i stuck my hand in a fan. Now on the surface that sounds like one retarded thing to do, but i swear it was completely unintentional. It was a small desk fan, probably 30cm across. It was sitting on the floor and my aunt asked me to pick it up and put it on the table nearby as it was running. I reached down and picked it up without looking, and my finger managed to slip through a gap in the bars which had bent enough to allow a finger to go through.
I heard this massive BRRRR BANG BANG BANG! and thought wtf was that? Right now my family and cousins and everyone at the table had turned around and were looking at teh fan in my hand, and i thought oh crap ive broken it on the casing or something. Then i looked down and saw that my finger was bleeding after breaking 1 1/2 out of 3 blades off, and completely fucking up the motor. I came out of that with a slightly bruised finger, and a nice chunk of skin taken out. My dad was cracking himself for about 10mins straight and was barely able to breathe. I dont have a pic but teh damage my one finger caused for the cut it received were certainly not equal. Im thinking of making it a party trick.

I have a rather prominent scar on my left thumb, from where a knife slipped and damn near took the joint out. It went in fast, and stopped on the bone.
I was 8 at the time, and had to be driven to hospital holding my thumb together.
More recently, I have a pair of scars on my elbow from a bike accident; I hit a railing and bounced off into a van, and lost a bunch of skin when I hit the road. Exposed nerves sting like fuck.

wow all of the cuts happened to only one finger, but what happens when it involves, lets say, four fingers, well then you get my story about how using gas powered hedge trimmers to cut perenials down can be dangerous, especially when your female boss is the when using the trimmers and your the poor schumck holding the plants.

the hospital was fun to, the gave me a nice cocktail shot for pain in the arm and then two shots for each finger, but they couldnt get the needle through my skin and the account that i have tough skin, or so said the doc, then later that night i work up at midnight to find my index finger had bled through all the gauss and was dripping on my pillow, so back to the hospital i went, this time around the soulderized (sp? they burned it shut)

it actually cut off the tip of my finger
