when i kick/baned from server or 'conection lost from server'->, then  my video option change automatically -> I rejoin the server -> punkbusterB initialization failed

I join & play other server once. -> disconnect and join my primary server -> few minites later, punkbusterB initialization failed

past, I uninstalled punkbuster and reinstalled punkbuster. then i can play game . but now, I repeat an repeat, can't play game
I runed pbsvc,pbsetup 100 times more
always relapse problem

I uninstalled antivirus program.
I dont use windows firewall.
I dot use router

...hu... one method exist. that method is reinstall BF2
I installed BF2 so many time. so I memorized my CD-KEY
I dont want reinstall BF2

I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.

i wouldnt re-install XP, its just a problem with the game.
sorry my solution didnt fix it, try messaging Liquidat0r- he probably knows more about it

PnkBstrB is a service like PnkBstrA.

Look in your services.msc list and see if it's disabled, if that's the case just re-enable it.

I disabled the services in msconfig so I do that everytime I play BF2, then disable them at the end.

Scan my computer when I'm not playing.. no bloody way.

Sorry to revive this old thread but I'm having the same type of problem as OP. Op seems to have resolved his prob by reinstalling xp but Im not sure I want to do that now.

Basically I played hundreds of hours of bf2 without any problem then I formatted my comp a few months ago and reinstalled bf2 a few weeks ago as some of my friends wanted me to play with them (I hadnt touched bf2 for several months). But I'm having trouble with punkbuster now... So basically I applied the solution of post #15 of that link http://forums.gamestrafe.com/network/ba … lure.html.
But I have probs when the setup is checking my services. I dont feel like registering on their forums lol so I was wondering if you guys could help me.

Same prob as everyone else .. I am trying everything .. havnt tried checking in msconfig though ... when I have though I found punkbuster a running but not punkbuster b .. also on start up when I check task manager both are runnig .. as soon as I shut down task manager and open again b is off ??

Follow this guide to manually unistall and install again punkbuster. It really fix it to me! This thinks happen cos the pnkbustr b is not working or it is damaged.

Delete and Reinstall the Punkbuster Folder and Software
To delete and reinstall the Punkbuster folder and software:

Click on My Computer.
Click on the C: drive, or wherever you have Battlefield 2 installed.
Click on Program Files.
Click on Electronic Arts.
Click on Battlefield 2.
Right-click on the pb folder, then click Delete.
Download and run the installation software for Punkbuster, which can be found here.

Close the installer.
Click on the Start button.
Click on Run.
Type regedit in the text field and press OK.

If you are using Windows 2000/XP/Vista, click on File, and select Export. Note: If you are using Windows 95/98/ME, click on Registry
Then select Export Registry.
Select All under Export Range.
Type backup into the File name field, and click Save. You've now created a backup version of your registry.
Once you've created your backup, continue as follows.
Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click the plus sign next to System.
Click the plus sign next to ControlSet001.
Click the plus sign next to Services.
Look for PnkBstrA, PnkBstrB, and PnkBstrK, and if they exist, right-click on each one and select Delete.
Click the minus sign next to ControlSet001.
Repeat steps 5, 6, 7, and 8 immediately above for any other ControlSet folders you have, such as ControlSet002 or CurrentControlSet.
Close regedit.
Double-click on the My Computer icon.
Double-click on drive C:.
Double-click on windows.
Double-click on system32.
Look for PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe and if they exist, right-click on each one and select Delete.
Double-click on drivers.
Look for PnkBstrK.sys, and if it exists, right-click on it and select Delete.
Restart windows.
Follow the instructions here to reinstall Punkbuster.
