Door locks and police are different from RFID chips and retina scans.usmarine2005 wrote:
Well ya huh? We should have just stopped at locks on doors. Nah, why did we even need those? Why do we need cops?CommieChipmunk wrote:
Well apparently not, we need cameras, RFID chips, facial and iris recognition software, only then will we be safe.
Whereas my argument is, "it is against the 4th amendment protecting unlawful search and seizure (which it is) and possibly 5th amendment protecting my right to my property" (including personal property not on public record), yours is simply "its my right to have the government take my personal info down." Now, certainly if you have no problem with the database, you can go down to your local FBI office and have them take all your biological info down. I'm sure they'll even let you jack off into a cup while looking at asian porn (for some reason I see you as the kind of guy that likes that stuff) for a semen sample. It is your right to submit, true. It is also unconstitutional for the government to require this information from citizens. I would have no reservations as far as a volunteer program. As I said before, until I do something that warrants the collection of my biometric data (as was the case in my arrest and subsequent fingerprinting), I will be vehemently opposed to this sort of program.usmarine2005 wrote:

And don't bullshit yourself, the way things are going we get to choose between two douche nozzles who will accomplish the same amount of nothing and send our country further into a police state...
I'd still like to hear why we actually need this. A serious reason, not just to protect children from priests sex offenders at Disney Land....
Why not see if it actually works instead of shitting on it right away? Jesus you are like my Mom not wanting to give a CD player a try back in the day.CommieChipmunk wrote:

Because 1) it doesn't play music and 2) There's more at stake here than switching all of my old tapes to CDs...usmarine2005 wrote:

2) And...
3) Well lets see, you cant get fingerprints for every crime, but chances are youll have at least 1 of the things above. If they have them in the database, the criminal doesnt get away. Serial killers getting away = more dead people, more dead people = bad.

Oh that's right, I forgot, most murderers and serial killers leave behind prints of their irises.... and facial signaturesMiguel Diaz wrote:

Yes, security films, photographs of any sort will show you those.CommieChipmunk wrote:

So what, we put cameras that will scan your iris in every room of every house? And in most cases if you get a video/photo of someones face, if you put it on the news, you'll find them.Miguel Diaz wrote:

And honestly, how many times will it actually be needed, maybe a couple times of year... is it worth the sums upon sums of money needed to get it it be effective? Is it worth giving more unnecessary information to the government? I vote no

Read the article then. Also, there is a reason it is a 10 year contract. You understand that right?CommieChipmunk wrote:

Plus, you people keep tossing around "your rights." You do know the rights you are throwing out there were created for white people only? Every man was equal, but then another law made that not the case.
So keep tossing that out there as an example, it is quite humorous.
Is this the people who gave you/us these rights?
"In 1784, five years before he became president of the United States, George Washington, 52, was nearly toothless. So he hired a dentist to transplant nine teeth into his jaw--having extracted them from the mouths of his slaves."

Wow...they must have be really concerned for the rights of every man.

also, the constitution does not have any explicit guarantee to a right to privacy.
Okay cool, we've realized that black people are people too now.. good point, I'll go get in line for my iris scan now. Even if the FBI genuinely felt that this would truly help in some way, the possibility for abuse is there and you have to admit that trusting our government is not necessarily the easiest thing to do. I for one think it's a little frightening that RFID chips are going into our passports and possibly a national ID in the near future with an ultimate goal of every American having a tracking chip on their person.usmarine2005 wrote:

Government is great and everything but I really do think that they're going overboard with this. All of this control in the name of national security and anti-terrorism is honestly ridiculous. They have their war, their Patriot act, Saddam's dead... they've done enough..
I guess we should just dismiss technology as we move into the future.CommieChipmunk wrote:

Of course. However, it is not my job or your job to figure out what is needed. I feel you are too quick to dismiss this without giving it a chance.CommieChipmunk wrote:
