ok, i recently got a new computer, you know quadcore...2gig ram, 8800GT yada yada ya and windows vista home premium
and i have installed and everything as i did on my old computer, put in the latest multiplayer patch
and when i choose my server i click "Connect to server"(or what ever it says) and it just stops there nothing happens, i cant click and options, i cant alt tab to the desktop but i can get back in, and task manager says it IS responding and i have no idea how to fix it
could anyone please help me:)

Do you run under admin, have you got a firewall etc.

I took the admin thing off because the damn thing asked me to confirm everything twice, and the firewalls arent blocking it and it hasnt come up when i have been in the bf2 window, so it should work anyway

Try to right click on your Icon and go into properties.  Under the compatibility tab make sure the boxes are checked next to run as admin. and make sure the compatibility mode is checked and XP SP2 is selected. This might help.

If you shut off UAC (User Account Control) you probably still have to run the game as an admin it will just not ask your permission everytime you open a program.

ok cool, so would i have to turn UAC on to do this, if not, would i have to contiually have it on admin (on UAC)?

Late reply, been away.

I have tried what you have said.
There is no option for the compatability mode and all of the boxes are ticked for everything
i still dont know what to do.
