I have tried to launch the game after installation (hopefully in right order ) but nothing happens. The blue circle spins for a second and then nothing? I have reinstalled it again and again same shit. The correct disc is in the computer. Can i play BF2 with Vista.......So close to unlock my last weapon so i need help.

Yes you can.

Make sure the game is set to run with Administrator priviledges- or you will get kicked for inadequate priviledges (UAC thing)

What are your system specs? [Have you ever had BF2 working before on that machine?]
Try repatching the game.
If thast doesnt work, try a manual reinstall if you haven't already (different from normal! - steps on http://support.ea.com]

Try loading up the game before you start patching/ installing expansions and stuff- it will give a good indication of where the problem is.

With BF2142 I tried running it in compatibility mode and it worked...until PB kicked me. Then I tried to run it as admin, and had constant "please insert CD" errors.

Finally after reading a post here I turned UAC off to check, and with out setting admin and with out running in compatibility mode it worked perfect.

I have just left UAC off, and BF2 worked perfect straight away after install with out setting anything. I think when vista pauses the program to ask you if it can run it causes problems. Try turning off UAC, its just a pita anyways.
(control panel>User settings> turn on or off user account control)

exactly. i run the game on vista and it works fine.
