it's three pictures - the first one picks up shadow, the second one picks up color, and the third one picks up light. i try to make my pictures look like what i saw . . .

Burnzz you tried doing three physical exposures instead of altering the exposure in Photoshop? I'd like to see the difference, if there is any.burnzz wrote:

Do you think you could post the three pics you used and then the final product? I would love to see if you would be willing to share...

ok, a brief tutorial about HDR photography. the following have been resized to match the above ^tuckergustav wrote:

i use software to take these three called photomatix (www.hdrsoft.com) and merge them through "tonemapping".
after that is done, i import it into photoshop to put a little 'curve' on it and then 'exposure'. my camera tends to be dark, so my exposure settings tend to lighten it up . . .
nice. Once i get my camera back into working order I think I might give it a try.
thanks for showing me!!

the first picture is under exposed. it's dark, because the shutter did not stay open long enough to capture all the light.
it only needs to record the shadows.
the second picture is a normal exposure, in this case 1/30th of a second, @ f/11. i locked the ISO @ 200.
the third picture is blown out, or over-exposed - it's needed to record the highlights.
the thre together give you a range of exposures - "high dynamic range" or hdr.
i especially like hdr because it is close to what i see, naturally . . .

unlike most people i have no depth perception. i've learned to live with it, but HDR pictures come closest to what i see - the shadow and high light looks real to me, and that is what i'm trying to reproduce.
i have seen most camera makers, and even the iphone 4, are doing HDR in camera. lazy bastards . . .

Take 2, needed to do some serious resizing
