I just installed BF2 and Updated to 1.12 However when I start up the game I get the BF2 logo then it just crashes. I have not been past that screen since I got it. Please Help!!
have you tried a reinstalle also is your DIRX up todate, video drive drivers also. but video drivers can cause your problem. if i use latest video drivers on mine it crashed so had to go back to drivers before i installed bf2. could be other problems but these are what i had to do for mine to run ....... give specs. on your machine for a better answer if game still crashes.
I have the exact same problem, but here's the weird part: It seems to be caused by my monitor.
I got a 20" Magnavox flatscreen TV for Christmas that has a "PC In" port on the back, so I'm using it to replace my 15" CRT monitor (hijacked from an old Dell). BF2 worked great on the 15" CRT, but when I plugged in my fancy new 20" it stopped working. At first, it would show the BF2 splash "medallion" rectangle thing, then go black and crash me to the desktop without so much as an error message.
I reconnected my old monitor, and it loaded fine, so I reduced my graphical settings and tried the TV again. That time it worked well, and I played for an hour or so, but next time I restarted my system, BF2 would load up and let me sign into the server, but instead of taking me to the menu screen, it would crash to the desktop as before.
I think EA needs to get some quality control on these patches. When is 1.2 coming out? Tell them to spend another week on it.
