Hi all!

I started my apprenticeship today for BMW.. well its Renault but the BMW people own it, its right next door. the Renault / Fiat / Alpha Romeo building has not been finished yet so ive been in the doing small stuff and going over to BMW a lot

so heres my day

arrive 10 to 8 meet the guys and walk around doing nothing for the first hour or so gettin introduced to everyone and filling out papers and stuff, then i get put onto my mechanic guy, hes a British guy hes been working on Renaults for 26 years and been in aus for a year and a half or something.

We put up thingys on the wall, all the special renault tools and the fixture thingys took 2 or 3 hours..
had lunch
we had to put on a new soft top roof on a alpha romeo spyder but the management said we shouldnt do it and take it to a upholsterer. i was SO CLOSE to following my dude down in a BMW M3 but the guy said he probly wouldnt be able to do it today so we both went down in the alpha and he sussed it out and booked us in for next tuesday..

anyway we get back and its lunchtime

so.
after lunch we get told we have to take an engine out of a BMW 328i and out a new one in tomoro, we spent 3 or maybe 4 hours on this i cant really remember but we still havent done it, theres about 4 more bolts on the gearbox and then thatll just pop out

i dont know what else we have to do but the new engine is getting delivered in the morning

i knocked off at 4:30 and went home ate food and drank a shitload, i didnt realise how thirsty i was during the day
then i went round to a mates to help him with his pc for 30 mins or so

then i went to the gym at about 6PM

was there for just over an hour....

then my day sunk in and i realised how much fun i had !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was buggered but it was soooo worth it

im going to love the next 40 years or so of my mechanical life

if i stay with it

that is the story of my day

Whats so special about that year M3 ?? they are pretty regular by now at least here in Denmark where cars cost 3x the production price,,

The latest M3 and the one before that were epic... but too expensive

no the vectra is desinged by Holden along with the Astra and the Monaro

and its Pontiac in america, Well the monaro is it the Pontiac GTO

Pontiac designed the GTO and Vauxhall and Holden makes and sells it in europe and australia respectively....

BTW: I'd take the Vauxhall Monaro over the GTO & the Holden Monaro any day...

TBH they should just slap a GM emblem on all the cars because this is frickin confusing

i just searched for vauxhall monaro on wiki and it redirects as the holden monaro,

so either theyre very similar, or noone could be fucked to do a writeup on the vauxhall which would be unusual

also, with the vauxhall we can get the same lights and bodykits, ive seen them a fair bit, so they must be exactly the same, not sure about enginewise or anything though

how do pronounce "vauxhall"
