GTX was never actually worth buying, GTX owners sorry you had to hear that but when the 8 series came out, no game was powerfull enough to use to full potential. A LOT cheaper GTS would do until the later GT.

yeah right, you´ve looked some benches/test, I´ve tested it myself... GT only beats GTX in 1024 x 768 Dont get me wrong, GT´s are great and good bang for the buck, but compared to GTX/Ultra they dont see any land.

@Floppy: oh two 8800GT SLI (500-550€) are faster than a single 8800GTX (399-429€), oh wow! And the bench above is 1024x768 too... What the hell, if you got such GPU´s why will you play in 1024x768?!?!?!? Look for 1200 x 1024 or 1600 x 1200 and then come back to me...

If you look at the specs,, the G92 (8800gt) chip is superior in some ways to the G80 (8800gtx), the only reason that the 8800GTX does better in higher resolutions are because of the 256 ram it has more than the GT....
tbh the tech-specs are so close that it just not worth it buying a 8800GTX today when you can get two 8800GT running SLi for the same price


Why would i want anymore when i have a TFT with 1280x1024 optimal resolution ?

TBH the 1600x1200 resolutions are overrated....

2x8800GT   = 3000 DKK
1x8800GTX = 3000 DKK

And don't try to tell me that a single 8800GTX is better than SLi 8800GT's, because that would just blow your credability to kingdom come..

Since 8800GT was released in Germany the prices tag 249-289€, when I bought my 8800GTX´s in March I´ve paid 449€, 529€ for my Ultra´s.

When I sumn it up it is two month earlier: 2x 8800GT (2x 249€= 498€); 1 x 8800GTX (449€)...

And I keep blabbing?! Man, come back to me when you have any idea what you´re talking about ok.

So to jump on the price/performance, a 8800GTX for 390€ is better and faster and more reasonable than a 8800GT OC for 279€!

If you weren't a mod i might have said something bad about now....

are you honestly saying that you believe 1 GTX to be better than 2 GT's when the two options in fact COST THE SAME !!!!???

listen, who cares if mod or not, you can say anything you want, although I dont know the reason to say anything bad, because we´re talking about GPU´s here, and nothing to worry about, but as you wish, feel free.

Once again.

I´ve bought two EVGA 8800GT´s 512MB OC two weeks after the release. Plugged them into the Q6600, 4096MB, blah, system, unplugged my two Asus 8800GTX 768MB and played Crysis, CoD4, Oblivion, NFS PS demo, Doom3 in diffrent resolutions, diffrent settings. Then I´ve plugged a single GTX back into it and repeated the procedure. Plugged in the second GTX and again. On the other side, if played the games on E6800EE, 4096MB, 2x 8800Ultra.

Result, 8800GT is a good card, in SLI and low resolutions it outperforms a sinlge GTX here and there. 8800GTX is the faster/better card and cheaper than a 8800GT SLI setting.

And I cant care less that a GTX is the same price in your country as 2x GT´s. Here in Germany, and most other European countries, two GT´s where always more expensive than a single GTX!

And with the latest pricedrop, GTX is the best bang for the buck, fullstop!

let me guess, you´ve bought two 8800GT´s latley right?

I´ve proofed you wrong several times now, even the internuts benches of tomshardware and other tech sites do, you see, there is nothing to discuss. I dont pay too much attention to benchmarks, I rather test stuff all by myself.

At times, when I had too much sparetime I´ve spend way too much money for stupid PC´s etc. Further I have pretty good connections to the biggest german techshop, as a buddy of my dad is the owner They´ve send me some stuff to toy around and I could decide if I want to hold it or give it back to them, I guess that explains...
