I've been trying to go to sleep for like two hours.

I have to get my wisdom teeth (all four) pulled tomorrow at 8:30... it's 1.

Fuckkkk...

to give this post meaning, please, share your experiences with getting your wisdom teeth pulled -- I've heard too many horror stories.

i got one of mine pulled and he dislocated my jaw. AGONY! and 8 hours spent in A&E for what is classed as a minor injury
It still pops back out sometimes when i yawn.
Have fun

It's not too bad the If they knock you out with gas or something. You'll wake up and have gauze in your mouth and be talking like the Godfather after a stroke.

Just be sure and take your pain pills they give you as soon as possible and for the next 2 or 3 days.

The first night you go to bed sleep with your head elevated as high as possible like in a lazy boy recliner or with lots of pillows trust me on this if you sleep flat headed you'll feel like shit.

the first morning you will be pretty sore by a weeks time you should be good.

Ah, and stretch out your jaw muscles good before you go in they'll probably have your jaw cranked open wide pretty good.

just had one yanked a month ago.  for me, the worst part was the local anasthetic, after they numbed me my gag reflex would randomly act up.  I never actually puked but I thought i was going to, about 100 times.  by the next day just my gums were a little sore where he stuck the needle in.  Going back in a few weeks for the rest of em.

Mine have all been pulled.
Wasn't that bad actually. Involves a lot of blood spitting and a little bit of pain. That's all..
Well, it was like that for me..
Can't speak for other people though.

Why are you getting them pulled? Is is true that they're more susceptible to damage then other teeth?

I'm getting mine pulled because there isn't enough room in my mouth, they're kinda growing up under my last molars.

It can't be as bad as tonsils right?  I mean, that hurt like a mother for a looong time.

Jesus... it's 2:15.  Bah

I got them removed in June. If they gave you good pain medication (Vicodin or the like) you shouldn't hurt as long as you take it as prescribed. if your parents are cruel like mine, then you will be forced to switch to a much weaker painkiller (Ibuprofen), which necessitates more frequent doses. Painkillers are only needed for about a week, though, as Coconut said. After then, the pain will be bearable. I actually only needed to take painkillers regularly for the first five days. After that, I just needed discomfort relief to allow sleeping.

Make sure you follow every instruction that the oral surgeon gives you. They actually do expedite healing, and help with the pain.

Best of luck with the surgery.

Hey Insomnia too eh?  Mine's caused by my World in Conflict Obsession though and the need to see all the trailers they have.

Seriously, don't worry about the Wisdom Teeth.  You will swell up, and you will ache, but they give you enough vicodin that you won't really feel it.  After 3 or so days, most of the problems go away and you should be good to go for eating solid foods and such again.  It does vary from person to person though.  Good Luck!

I get my wisdom teeth out in December.  My twin just had hers out a few weeks ago and she was in pain, but then again, her doctor/dentist guy was a total idiot who got his degree in Orthopedic Surgery on an online university...  Had he not been an idiot, there would have been no problem, so I wouldn't worry too much.  Chances are you'll get a better doctor than my sister did.  Good luck, and have fun.

Got mine pulled a week ago today it seriously wasn't that bad. The worst part was having the gauze in your mouth until your blood clots, o and my mouth was unbearably dry after they were pulled too.

The surgery is okay.... its the week after you should be worrying about.  Lots of swelling, pain, nausea, painkillers, and soreness await you.
