I would say it is more a case of "large program involving (often bumbling) humans" than any type of ideological mindset.
All infantry get escape and evasion training now days...I got mine at Ft.Polk in 1969...there were only a few infantry POW`s in the Vietnam war because the VC and NVA killed them on the battle field. Pilots were higher profile and they usually parachuted over enemy territory.ATG wrote:
