Is that an accurate figure? Are you part of the 1%? Or are you some kind of hippie part of the 99%?-Sh1fty- wrote:

I've met plenty of people in the armed forces, and "defending the country" isn't a primary motivation that I've heard very often.

Whether they like it or not, the paycheck comes with a risk. Especially in branches like the Marines where you don't always have your say in the MOS. You could be joining just for a 'free' paycheck and have a 'badass' title but if you get 0311 and get sent on your marry way to patrol Herpderpistan and get killed you're defending your country.mikkel wrote:

The point I'm trying to say is that you don't always know when you sign those papers if it's eventually going to put you in an early grave. If somebody takes that risk I think they deserve some respect.

How is that talking like I've been there? Jay you're such a prick and sometimes I think you don't even try.
Can I not speak for my family members who've served, or my good friends who've served? I know a guy who joined back in '01 and just got back from his 7th tour. On one of his tours a kid threw a grenade inside his HMMWV and it fked him up bad, he healed up and went right back for 4 more tours.
I can speak for my friends, I can speak for my family, I will speak for them, and you can have a hot cup of shut the fuck up.

Where did I insinuate that I was a hero? Stop taking hallucinogens. I'm asking for respect for the people who've served, not myself.

You speak from ignorance and try to come off as if you have knowledge via experience. You have nothing. You can't relate to their experiences because you have none of your own. For the love of god, please stay the fuck out of military threads until you've earned a combat patch. I'm saying that to you specifically, because you're the only tard that tries to pass himself off as some kind of military expert. Again, shut the fuck up.-Sh1fty- wrote:

You insinuate it by the fact you keep going on about all the people who you know, and talking about what they have been through as though you know exactly what it's like.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Your accusations are beyond crazy. I've been advocating that everybody should respect our service members. You seem to have a problem with that. You all jump on me whenever I say anything about the military. Stop being a bunch of bitter bastards eager to hop on the slightest opportunity to bash me.Jay wrote:

You're quite the asshole Jay. I'm asking for respect for our troops, which IIRC includes you, and you tell me to fuck off.

I don't know what it's like. I'm telling your what they've told me and based on theirs experiences I believe they should be respected for their service.coke wrote:

what the hell is everybody's problem on this forum? It's like you're all wound-up and ready to spring at the slightest disturbance, like the internet is some way for you to blow off steam or something.
