Well there's been a Republican at the helm for the past 6 or so years and most of that time there was a Republican majority in the house and senate so you can draw your own conclusions...

I welcome you to criticize Canadian health care, albeit it is not alone in the western world, which seems to favour socialist health care. It is not perfect, but we love it. Our greatest citizen happens to be the father of our medicare system. I gladly pay more taxes so that my fellow citizens can enjoy health care when they need it. I happen to believe in the idea that a society exists to serve all those in it, and so do Canadians. Luckily, our socialist-capitalist system has been magnificently run by successive Liberal governments, who have left us with an amazing economy. We favour social programs but with a strong free market aided by the government. I ask you to criticize it with actual arguments other than your facetious attempts to discredit liberalism.
I do not know enough about your country, but I have been seriously misinformed if what you say about liberals and conservatives is true. Shocking, really. I prefer to allow an individual judgment to occur, as it does not fail to grossly misjudge the calibre of entire political ideologues. To look at my own country, your strong criticism of liberalism would surely mean that Canada, a liberal haven, or Europe even, would be horrible places. Perhaps actual, factual arguments might settle this better. While we do throw around generalized terms such as liberal or conservative here in D&ST too often, we also frown on statements such as yours. At all means, please give credit to your argument. I would appreciate it much more, although be prepared to defend your comments.
