Ok so I downloaded Insurgency mod for Half-Life 2 and thought i would give it a go.
So i hate to install HL and all that and update it fine but now when I got to play any thing in steam mod or other wise my moniter keep flicking from standby to on again and wont stop doing it. I can hear the game running but cant play cos i cant see lol.
This does not happen with any thing else.

Make sure that your refresh rate isn't higher than what your monitor can exceed. Also, turn off V-Sync and try it again if you have it on.

How would i do that? The refresh rate is at 70 Hertz at the moe.

v-sync is a setting in game.

turn it off in advanced options.

monitor refresh rate

desktop properties > display > advanced > monitor

the refresh rate options are there.

Right-click on your shortcut and in the line with "Target" next to it, put -refresh 70 at the end of that line.

if you have an lcd monitor chances are your refresh rate is 60 hertz.. generally when you set the resolution of the game you can choose between:

1600x1200 @ 75hz
1600x1200 @ 60hz.... etc.. choose your resolution and the one that says 60 hz.
