I've read that some other people have the same problem as I do, but the answers given to them haven't helped me yet. When I try to fun Battlefield 2 it stops at the black screen before the intro clip. It then goes back to the desktop. This has been happening since I got the game, and happened with another version of the game. I have allowed it through my Windows Firewall, my router Firewall, I have opened up all the ports, and both the graphics card memory and the RAM memory are more than adequate for running this game.

Any ideas?

have you tried to change the resolution to widescreeen in the exe file.... if you have, you have done it wrong, you have to get the exact code.
try changing it back to normal, to see if it works
if it dosnet and you have widescreeen type this exactly in  copy and paste ..

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900

Including quotation marks.

good luck

Check Settings there as you see it on Screen shot if that's fine then run the game in windows mode.......... if you need to know how to do that please let me know and I will give you step by step instructions....

Good Luck

Is it just Battlefield 2 that this occurs on?

Yah Sam your xfire profile has your 'puter hardware but WTF you have a Video Card: SiS 760!!!!! is that an integrated video card, part of the motherboard???? I know xfire does a poor job listing one's computer hardware so I am hoping that info is wrong.

I know, it does rather suck badly. I am waiting till I get paid to get a decent graphics card. Or a New computer that doesn't give me loads of hassle.

I think the issue is with your intergrated video card  which is also taking 128MB of memory from your 1GB of RAM.
BF2 minimum video card requirements are under-stated...you need a better video card (with at least 256MB of memory)
than what is listed on the box. On the plus-side, if you get a video card, it will free up your RAM.

If I get a 128 would that have the additional 128 from the intergrated card, or would the minimum I could or would have to get be 256?

It would have to be a 256 card, the 128 from the integrated won't help a video card.

See if he will let you test it on your PC with BF2; also do not forget to disable the Integrated Video option in your BIOS after you install the new video card. Good Luck
