Have fun breaking the bank with the 9 series.  I'll wait a year from now when the prices have dropped.

There will be 10-series and you would say " I will wait for 11-series!"

Yeah... I've been fed up with my 20gb hd that I run my games on...

I haven't upgraded my computer for um 5 years, so I'm just gonna splurge on hd's ^^

Ganko - Yeah, but if they're not good I'll just go with an 8900...

It's at 1591 right now, factor in 8.75 tax and shipping. I'm figuring another $200 at the current setup.

Bear in mind that X800 will bottleneck your system - but with a 9 series it will be very nice

o.- ?

The motherboard and RAM was taken off the techreport website... As is most of the system... So what should I get?

mitch - Roger that, but I don't want to buy an 8900 and have to update it within a year... Too much money ><

When are the 9-series meant to be released? And will they destroy the current 8800GTX by their power?

I thought it was this fall... I know they'll be running DDR4. (Correct me if I'm wrong...)

No such thing as an 8900.

The motherboadr is fine, but the RAM has to be DDR2, just look at Newegg and find something in your price range, post it up here and we'll tell you whether its any good.

What? 8900 isn't coming out, they're moving straight up to the 9xxx series.

If you want performance, don't get that memory.

Basically, any of these; http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi … DDR2+1066+(PC2+8500)

What's up with the PSU?
I can't think of a system that would consume 1kw
A PC with QX6600, 4GB 800mhz ddr2, 2 8800 Ultras and 4 HDD's would peak it's power consumption at around 700W.

Don't think you should spend 400$ on a PSU, waste of money IMO.

You can get a Thermaltake 700W for a bit more than 100$. Spend a few more bucks and you can get a 800W if you want...

Edit: Does the PSU come with the case?

Are you kidding? A system with 2 Ultra's and 4 HDDs would definately need 1000w....850w at the minimum. Two Ultra's is like...wow. Power whorage.

You're spending $1000 on just your case, psu, and harddrives. You can build a far more powerful rig if you make better choices.

"The quoted power consumption for a GeForce 8800 GTX is 177 Watts. For the new GeForce 8800 Ultra, running at higher clock speeds, the quoted power consumption is 175 Watts."

Has this changed since?

http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.h … VzaWFzdA==

Or is this be a more reliable resource?

8800 Ultra: 175 Watts
8800 GTX: 145 Watts
