My first suggestion is to let Special Forces servers play normal maps (with or without the grappling hook and zip line). This is not just an issue of the amount of time it takes to switch games; it’s an issue of map variety on Special Forces servers. It seems lame that it’s called an expansion, yet the standard maps are taken away. The problem with this idea is that players without Special Forces would see the servers playing default maps and try to join. The answer is to not let bf2 players see Special Forces servers. I think that the reason it was done the way it was, is to keep the community together as much as possible, but in my opinion, it just causes headaches. Think about it, the only thing that keeps bf2 and Special Forces together now is that we can see both types of servers in the browser. We are still changing games when we click on a bf2 server and we are in Special Forces, and bf2 players still see servers that they can’t join.
My second suggestion is to show how many people are spawning and are at a spawn point on the spawn gui. If everyone is going to spawn on the deck, I would like to know about it so I can spawn elsewhere. (this is especially important at the beginning of a round.)
Thirdly, when checking what kits my squad and team has, I often find a skull where if they were alive it would be their kit. If you put the dead in red and alive in blue, that information would still be conveyed and we could still see the kit symbol regardless of if they are dead or alive. It would also be good to know how many of a given kit are on the entire team, this info would go on the kit selection gui.
Fourth, make kick votes based on the team the guy is on. It’s hard enough to get the majority of one team to vote. Sometimes the enemy will vote no because the team killer is helping their cause.
Fifth is to change the manage squad colors from dead and alive to on a squad in red and unassigned as blue. This would save a lot of headache.
The sixth suggestion has to do with communication. Firstly, the commander should be able to talk directly to unassigned via the standard voip button (but unassigned can’t talk back to them). Secondly, a new communication channel should be implemented that is for people that are close to you. This serves two purposes, it makes vehicle communication less troublesome and gives the player the opportunity to talk smack to dead or alive enemy. Think of the possibilities, commander and unassigned can talk directly to the friendly units that are around them. Also, it wouldn’t matter who jumps in the attack helicopter with you, because you can talk directly to them without managing squads.
The seventh and final suggestion is that squads be able to vote for their leader. I have had many times when a squad was in hostile territory and the leader died. We had everyone leave and come back except that one dumb jerk that becomes squad leader instead of the one guy left alive in hostile territory. This is also good for when the squad leader is a pilot and is too occupied to relinquish squad control.
