I'll take that bet Turkey has been a US ally for many years, but this situation is rapidly changing things. Bear in mind that the Turks never put all their eggs in one basket, plus they're the masters of double talk. Example with Greece, they always talk about friendly relations etc while at the same time they trespass into Greek airspace over 10 times a day. Turkey is not a country that will give things back just like that. Look at Cyprus for example. I'm sure the occupation of the island will not be a problem for them concerning the process of joining the EU.

My guess is they will do the same with the US. Up to now, US foreign policy suited theirs in the region. Now, if they feel like making a move it's only a matter of creating a pretext. They've done it before with success...
