I've been saying it all along; the moment the U.S.  appears to fail in Iraq look for Turkey to invade from the north.
Saudi Arabia will go to war with Iran and Iraq will be the battlefield.

You know, there is some possibility that this is all part of some grander strategy that W has. I'm just saying.
Maybe complete chaos and a cratered landscape was the intention all along.
The Middle East in flames. Displaced people. Starvation. Disease.

Paybacks are a bitch.

Whatever happens the Turks will have their hands full with the Kurds up north.

The ONLY reason the Turks have massed these troops is their hatred of the Kurds and the fear that they will try to create a free Kurdistan should the Iraqi Gov. fall or become unstable, which would encompass part of eastern Turkey.

I am sad that I will have true friends on both (Turkish and Kurdish Iraqi) sides.

If the Turks do decide to "keep the peace" as they will call it in northern Iraq, the US military will have the obligation to help defend the sovereign nation of Iraq. and I don't know if the Turks brought that many body bags.

I tell you from experience that Kurdish Iraqi Peshmerga and US Military would together roll over the Turk armies coming out of Sirnak and surrounding areas.

i heard, if Turkey is gonna go into north Iraq, the Kurds are gonna get the shit kicked out of them, last time turkey went into Iraq, they lost a hundred soldiers but took 3000 kurds into the ground with them. before that in 95 around 60 turkish soldiers died, and about 200-300 Kurds died. Turkey IS a modern muslim army which is a force to be reckoned with. i saw a pic of their special forces on yahoo...they looked so mean

America has about 150 000 + troops in Iraq, their morale is constantly under attack by IED and suicide bombers, Turkey has massed 140000 troops on the border so that they could defend themselves from the KPP attacks in Turkey (TERRORISM!), if the US army will stand in Turkey's way would be fighting with the same passion the US fought post 9/11 in Afghanistan, to rid themselves of terrorists, they are supporting TERRORISM! which would prove them as hipocrits, so in my opinion they will not touch Turkey's business with the Kurds, and the Peshmerga would get steamrolled under the might of the Turks....97, turks invaded Iraq north, lost 100 soldiers killed 3000 enemy combatants...if your thinking the Peshmerga would fight better after US training, look at the Iraqi Forces and you will see the result.

thats cool I am glad you read about it.. however

I have been there spent much time there.. saw the transfer of a hell of a lot of modern us equipment to the Kurdish Iraqis.

What reading a book will not show you is that the "modern" Turkish army is comprised of largly conscripts that do not get paid, get beat on regularly, are equiped like shit, and have very little formal training. The Iraqi Kurds are fighting for their homelands and ideals. If the Turks focus solely on the Pkk, KDP and others then you are right, however when the Turkish General Staff gets the lust for more Kurd blood they would be wise to let the rest Kurdish Iraqi population alone.

ATG, you've read the situation completely wrong. Turkey has troops at its border because our occupation is terrible and we are dicks. Do we care about the radicals and revolutionaries we've allowed to go romping over the border and stirring up tensions in Turkey? No. We're pricks, and that's why the world dislikes us.
