Just let it mean what you want it to mean. My stats are all just a byproduct of my team and I wanting to win more than the other team.Ey3 wrote:

Vehicle KDRs mean nothing to me. Class KDR means nothing to me. Overall KDR means slightly more than nothing.
The KDR that really gives a good picture is the KDR of each small arms weapon.

kit kdr doesnt mean very much, anyone can fly a jet as engineer and rack up 50+ kills with the kit, individual weapon kdr mean more however, i would like to see certain weapon Klls/Deaths and not just assault rifle etc though, so we can see who is a G36e whore, and who is an L85a1 whore :-).
Depends. Look at their PID. High ratios and high PID denote an experienced player playing a new account.Ey3 wrote:

Also, something to note with IO versus vehicle maps is that vehicles that are "whored" also typically result it certain stats being influenced in manners often thought of as odd. For example, snipers with high KDRs for their kit, but their sniper rifle KDRs suck.
Personally, I have no problems with IO or vehicles. It's all about the mood I'm in. However, even on vehicle servers, I tend to pound the ground in preference to vehicles.
to get a consistently high KD in anything for an extended period of time, you need skill. I'd like to see anyone here who says that KD means shit to score above 3:1 with weapons after at least 20 hours of play.
Agreed.SargeV1.4 wrote:

Well i guess its not that big deal to everybody but i do care about my stats and so on, it makes me happy when you kill example 5 people or more without dying yourself (no pkm or sniper involved) in close combat which means you really owned those guys
As long I got more kills then deaths im ok
No, it only means that you will get killed once at that spawnpoint holding a PKM against tanks and whatnot. If you keep respawning with a sniper rifle, PKM, knife, whatever in that situation, and don't switch to AT, then you obviously deserve that shitty k/d ratio because you have no good judgement.Solid Lore wrote:
K|D Means something to a point, like someone said earlier if you're on a vehicle map and you're in an uncap being attacked by tanks and hellys and all you've got is a PKM, well then you're screwed to get a bad ratio.
as far as im concerned only chopper/jet kds mean something.. rest are easy to get if ure infantry (which im not. and i even get ridicilously high ratios a bunch nowdays on sharqi and such)
Chuck Norris would round-house kick you all!
KDs can distinguish between noobs and experienced players, but between experienced players things like simple risk aversion can be bigger factors than raw fps skill.
if u are the guy on the roof of the hotel with nothing but kills, u arent necessarily better than the player that died twice in the process of capping the flag from beneath u. so whether or not "KD means anything" depends on your def of skills, because some people care about the skill of approaching enemies carefully and avoiding 1 v 2+s (which is def smart play and easier gunning), but other people will attempt to jump out in front of 2 or 3 enemies intending to just headshot all of them. it takes skill to be rambo, but as luck would have it, you also get domed by a lot of the groups of people u approach even if they individually have less than half as much skill in reaction time that you are bringing to the table.
Other strategic decisions like leading the pack or attacking armor can get you killed, despite the more difficult tasks undertaken. Map choices and roles within maps (do you play karkand? do u tend to be the designated hotel/usmc uncap guy???) do u tend to use kits like you are a sniper? staying up high, out of view, and shooting people in back? are u just a pussy in general? ie, when u see the best player in the server posted up somewhere do u get aggro and own that fucker, or do u try to stay out of the way?
It should be clear by now that KD stats and skill are only tenuously connected due to a wide variety of gameplay choices.

Yeah tons of them huh? Only one i found kiddo, and shadow ownz was in the clan atleast 2 years ago before Crazy-8 even played in competition so get your facts straight All of those other guys aren't even on our team.
In total thats 3 different people, not as many as you see. Check the GUIDs idiot.
And if you haven't noticed we updated the tags. Do you see any of our recent members with .Cz8 on there? Hmm no

You say one but there are 3 caught. Your clan already has a bad reputation. IDIOT!! I suggest you change your clans name cause all you are going to get is "You clan are a bunch of hacking n00bs".[Cz8]Bullet wrote:

Get your facts straight. I have been playing BF 2 since day 1 and I know crazy 8 where a bunch of hackers. Your lucky I dont poll more name from other site to make you look even worse.
Lemme fix that up for you, you've been PUBBING bf2 since day 1. And crazy 8 has a completely different roster now than it did before. The two other guys weren't on Cz8, the guy named Shadow Ownz was however and at the time Cz8 was under a different leader who's name was Quick, the current leader is Erwan and the members now are way different than before, I never even spoke to shadow ownz or anyone else on the master ban list. I don't even think they play bf2 anymore. Oh and another thing, I haven't even played against. And go ahead, pull more names.Unreal_Insanity wrote:

Bingo. Stats are a decent indicator up to a point (e.g. if someone has accuracy of 8% and a KD ratio of 0.0004 then it's a fair bet that they're abysmal), but after you spot that someone is proficient, it's almost like pissing in the pool. How do I know? I play with several people regularly on pubs. When we're in a group, we're all much of a muchness. We all have similar infantry skills. We're all tactically competent, can aim and make good choices when playing together. Our scores tend to converge and there's a similar breakdown in kills, deaths and revives etc. However, my assault rifle KD ratio is pushing 2.5, whereas theirs is down at ~1.3. None of us plays IO (boring) or plays one map significantly more than the others. When I come up against my friends with the lower AR ratios, they often kill me more than I kill them. The difference is that I play quite conservatively when I'm not playing with those dudes. If I'm alone, I know that I can't rely on random pub dude #375368 to revive me, so I tend to hang back and pick people off rather than rush into a ruck of players and try to maim everything that moves. I might gain my team some tickets by the increased KD ratio, but my friends will probably gain their teams some tickets by capping more flags. Stats also don't give the story about risk. Some dude with 8000 easy revives on Karkand may not be the guy who will dive through a ruck of three enemies to revive you. He might be the guy who will pussy out and preserve his KD ratio despite his SL needing reviving in a great tactical position.Marinejuana wrote:

....
It should be clear by now that KD stats and skill are only tenuously connected due to a wide variety of gameplay choices.
Stats also fail to take into account map and weapon differences. E.g. a wake chopper or jet whore will have an enormous KD ratio compared to someone who uses all jets / choppers on all maps. Not all maps are suited to getting huge scores in air vehicles. Similarly, armour whores won't have much of a good KD ratio if they play maps with a lot of air assets. Accuracy can be skewed by playing one kit over another (sniper = big accuracy) or one particular map (Karkand = short range fighting = more bullets will hit the enemy as they're closer). Yadda yadda.
In short, stats usually can demonstrate competency as opposed to mastery. You can get a decent idea about someone's skill level by looking at their stats, but you won't truly know their level until you've played with or against them. I only know a handful of people whose stats are outstanding in every department (mirroring their ingame performance), whereas I know several people who are equal to me or better despite having 'inferior' looking stats.

That's where you are wrong. Footsoldier vs guy in tank is one of the biggest challenges in BF2, and it can be done in a ton of ways.S.Lythberg wrote:
Nah, especially not for players who still play vehicle maps, cuz a PKM cant do shit to a tank, and no amount of skill is going to let you win that fight.

-nades (like a dozen)
-convince the tanker to get out, then kill him or steal the tank and kill him
-spot the tank, hide, and let your team take him out
And lets not forget that you too can hop in a tank and have the same advantages of any other tanker, which should even out your KD in the long run.
KD and WL still matter. You just have to take it all with a grain of salt as part of the whole picture.
Easy look at their Weapon KDRChaos_nation wrote:
KDR is too easy to inflate. Pilots get 70 kills in a round to say 3 deaths, commanders get similar ratios of 20 + kills to no deaths, so how can you compare KDR when they can be inflated so easily?
There is only one way to prove that KDR is an effective indicator for the skill of the player and that is to strip out anything in the game that can artificially inflate KDR, zero the stats and all you will left with is you knife and pistol.
The Kit KDR is misleading.
no it doesnt
if you like infantry and don't like driving/flying the only stats that will mean anything are the weapon kdr's, cos that is what you play
if you like flying or driving, vehicle kdr matters
if you like to be commander, commander score and w/l ratio matters
if you just play for points, you will only count points
if you like teamwork, teamwork points matter
all these type of points make it fun to play bf2, it isn't just a infantry game it is also a rts (commander) flightsim (pilot) an tank-simulator,
it isn't the best flightsim, infantry or rts but it's the combination of all these type's of games that make the game FUN,
also if you don't like the stats, just play and don't look at them,

I haven't played Tampa but I have feeling that you've made a seriously stupid statement. Isn't Tampa a big-arsed vehicle fest? Any extremely large map (dragon, songhua) is difficult to get around in, picking up kills would be much quicker when you're motorised.Ilocano wrote:
