Have you ever starred in one spot for a certain amount of time and seen little dots moving back and forth? And, if you try and follow them, they fade away?

WTF is it?

It's easier to do it by closing my eyes, in the darkness, but I can still do it with my eyes open. Anyone know?

Well if you see lots all at once, your retina is detaching. In that case, seek medical attention.

But I do know what you mean, can't explain it though

I've been able to do it all my life, so, it's not an issue, since I have perfect eye sight.

When I say small dots, I mean, really small dots.

When doing it, I'll try and concentrate on one certain dot, but it's like they move in alternating colors and I cannot just look at one. My eyes try and track it and they all fade away. Very odd.

Ever had little coloured dots?
When you are tired and have been sitting down for a while, or just not moved much, then you move and suddenly you get a blood rush and little dots appear everywhere.

I hate it when I am listening in a lecture or something, then I get up and it hurts.

Almost everyone has them, but if you just got them after being in an Accident where you hit your head hard or got the shit kicked out of you, go see the Eye Doctor..

They aren't a big deal, but if your concerned go see an Eye Doctor.

I volunteer at an optometist's office on a weekly basis since this is the profession i want to have the rest of my life. Its because your vitreous humor ( the jelly part of your eye ) stats to clump up as you get older. Its prevalent with people who are myopic ( nearsighted) or it can be a sign of a detached retina that may lead to diabetes retinopathy( leaky blood vessels in the eye----so you gamers better watch your glucose levels... ).. if it gets worse, i would go see a opthamologist or an optometrist.

high blood pressure and high glucose levels will screw up your vision really quickly. instead of beating yourself up playing bf2 all day and all night, get off your arse and run a mile, cut down on the fast food, eat good fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin A that will prevent  macular degeneration, xerophthalmia ( inflamation of the mucus layer right outside the cornea).

No, they're literally little dots. The only way I can see them is by concentrating on one spot and staring hard on it. They appear and then do what I've described above.

And, my eyes aren't dirty. They're cleaned every night as I cry myself to sleep.

Also, I can't simply "see" them, I have to make myself see them.
