Hi guys, need some help with this one. The headphones that I have now are probably the most uncomfortable set ever made, and I just can't stand it anymore. I've been looking for a while but am having a problem finding anything that would work considering the following info:

- Audigy 2 ZS
- I have extremely good 5.1 speakers and am not willing to unplug them for headphones that require the use of the 3-plug audio on the sound card. I wouldn't mind 5.1 headphones, but don't know of a cheap solution to being able to plug them both in without ruining sound quality. If anyone can suggest something, it would solve a lot of problems.
- No shitty little headphones like these. I'm looking for ones that 'cup' the ears.
- Folding design is a huge plus
- Detachable mic is a plus
- Would prefer if they have a mic, don't like desktop mics

+1 for anyone that makes a useful suggestion and actually read the criteria or provides a reasonable alternative.

Thanks

I have Plantronics Audio™ 350 Ultimate Performance Headset.  I think they are awesome myself, been using them for a while.  No detachable mic though, but it does fold out of the way.  Not exactly collapsible, but resizable.  Good sound quality, and half decent pricing.  Really long cord too, (~2 meters) which is nice, I hate getting caught because I have to run something to the back of a computer.  It has a audio and mic plug in, with adjustable volume and mic mute on the cord.  Also available is the USB version, if you don't want to unplug the speaker system.

use icemat siberias- http://www.compusa.com/products/product … ia_Headset

They are very light weight and comfortable and they sound great too. they go in 3.5mm so you should be good with that. the only downside is that they are not very strong, so if you sat on them more than a couple times, you might find yourself needing new ones again. oh and they dont fold if thats important to you

the microphone included is actually seperate of the headset and is multidirection. It has a clip on it so you can clip in on your shirt or on this little thing they give you to put on your screen. The mic quality is fairly good but not great.

but as comfort goes, it is impossible to beat these

Siberia's are nice. I've been considering them but would still like to look at the possibility of 5.1's via some sort of splitter.

These babies rumble around your ears when you jump in that HMVV, or tank etc.

A little expensive but I own a pair and they hook up between my 5.1/7/1 cpu surround speakers, no need to
disonnect anything ever. Removable Mic very nice very nice.  their full 5.1

Yeah... this isn't 1995 anymore, so USB consuming CPU power isn't really an issue.

Yeah, looks like the AK-R8's are out too. Not paying an additional $90 just to ship them across the border. Too bad, since they look great. The Tritton's seem to be pretty good quality, and overnight shipping would cost $15. Price doesn't really bother me, I spend enough time gaming that I'd rather pay more for better quality, but I'm not going to pay an extra $90 just to ship them from the US.

I have these and I can vouch for Chuck, execelent sound quailty. Came with all the connectors you need to hook up speakers and headphones. If you would like the only con I have?, Can get warm on your head if worn for VERY long times.

Icemat Siberia Headset.

Good bass, you can really hear that tank coming down the road.  Awesome for gaming.  5.1 as well.

It's not for music though, the sound is not as clear as my Creative Speakers are with music.  Treble isn't that great.

There's a version with a detachable mic, and another with a boom mic.  I recommend the boom mic.  I have the detachable clip-on one, and no one can ever hear me when it's clipped on my shirt.  I have to lean my head down to be heard on TS.  That plus the fact that I always roll over the cable. (It holds up though, really sturdy.)

I dunno your budget...
https://www.lojadoipod.com.br/images/img10531924667.jpg
E2C...~$100, an they come with 3 different sizes of ear piece, with 3 different materials for each size (stiff but flexible plastic, soft black rubber, and that foam they make earplugs out of.

they are semi big for ear buds they sit nicely in your ear so you can still wear a mic.

They sound sexy, I prefer them to my MDR-700's that cost like $30 more. I've been able to wear these longer then any other headphones I have, and if you really want to get crazy they can custom fit you for a personal ear piece for them

IMO a good pair of headphones is worth $100, as long as you take care of them and have them a while. Ive been MORE then happy with these.

How big they are on a person:

Edit: when finding that picture I read a review that referred to them as "the most uncomfortable thing Ive ever put in my ear" so I guess they fit different people different ways...but still with 9 different styles of ear piece coming with it I would think you could find your match....

Checked tigerdirect and ncix already, as well as some local stores. Tigerdirect seems to carry everything but the AK-R8's, and nobody else has anything from TurtleBeach.

Tigerdirect has the non-usb model. Says it includes "Splitter cable to connect headphones and speakers simultaneously". How much is that going to detract from sound quality/volume, if at all?

Neither do I with my current set, but I'm not interested in cheap. I'm interested in something that doesn't suck, which is pretty much the opposite of what you suggested. Been there, done that. I've had the lame little plastic $20 'gaming headsets'. Went through about 4 pairs. Bad sound quality, bad mic quality, mic stops working, headphones stop working. No thanks. You get what you pay for.

Anyone have Razer HP-1's? They are apparently very similar to the Turtle Beach HPA2's, but are actually available immediately rather than as a 2-week order. Tigerdirect is pretty retarded, they seem to think it costs $80 to ship the HPA2's to my postal code, never really like them in the past either so I'd rather not deal through them. NCIX ships both for <$20 1-2 day service. HP-1 are in stock, HPA2 are 1-2 week special order. Have read quite a few reviews. Good things about both, but have heard the following negatives mentioned more than a few times:

Turtle Beach HPA2
- cheap plastic
- ear pieces break off or come unscrewed

Razer HP-1
- very weak bass without the Razer soundcard
- terrible mic
- low quality audio control

Would really like some more opinions on these if anyone has them.

Well, if your still waiting to purchase a good set of "gaming" headphones, I still recommend
Turtle Beaches Ear Force series.

I've had them a little over a year and they still sound as awsome as they did the first day I got em!
Pretty well engineered, only problem I've had, and like St.BADSHOT says, they do get a little warm
after several hours of continuous gaming.

A small fan by your desk can take care of any climate issues.
The foam padded donuts that fit between the phones and your grape can sometimes come off the phones,
their just elastized to hold onto a small groove on the phones,
so they sometimes get worked off, but no big deal.
The removable positionable microphone works great.

The best part is halfway down the cable is an actual signal amplifier, with full 5.1 adjusting knobs and a master Volume control.
I've got Turtle Beaches "Catalina" 7.1 surround sound card, discontinued now for whatever reason.
These headphones have gone above and beyond what headphones should normally do. They're ok.

Talked with someone who has them, they're very comfortable and have excellent quality. However, they don't have a mic with them, and they're about ~$180AU for a pair.
