I have read the guide but dont quite understand it, cna anyone explain wheres the button to upload 2 images?

No idea what are u talking about. Ok so i thought to open 2 images, i have to hit file and open. But when i do that, my first image somehow gets zapped off the screen.. Edit: I found the button, its called place i think. But still a noob to photoshop, no idea what the tools are for.

You open multiple images one after another by going to file > open. The place command has nothing to do with this.
You use the File > Place command to place artwork into a new layer in an image.
You are possibly in full screen mode and that would hide any other images that are currently open. Hit the F key and see if that puts you in standard screen mode. PS 7 automatically puts you back to standard screen if you open more than one image but I'm not sure about previous versions.
The help button is another great option.
Press 'Ctrl' while choosing the images you want to open. It allows you to open multiple images at once if all the images are located in the same folder.

You need to understand Layers and take "Mount"out of your PS vocabulary. You are not mounting an image on another but rather layering them.
From PS 7 help.html- "Layers allow you to work on one element of an image without disturbing the others. Think of layers as sheets of acetate stacked one on top of the other. Where there is no image on a layer, you can see through to the layers below. You can change the composition of an image by changing the order and attributes of layers. In addition, special features such as adjustment layers, fill layers, and layer styles let you create sophisticated effects."
There are multiple ways to accomplish most tasks in PS. Masks are also very useful. I would also suggest getting a book on CS3. I'm sure it's quite different from PS 7.
