OUCH!!!!

Six Flags and another company shut down eight more thrill rides Friday around the country after a teenage girl had her feet chopped off at the ankle on a Superman Tower of Power.

can you say never go to six flags again?

heard about that this morning ----- Can you say Six Flags under new management *teenage girl smiles from behind the desk*

I would hate to see what Six Flags and other amusement parks have to pay in insurance bc of accidents like this and the ones that cause death

As mean as it sounds, it was probably her fault, im sure there is a harness to prevent this sort of thing from happening.

I went to Six Flags one time and never went back. The park was confusing, dirty and seemed very poorly run. Cedar Point in Ohio is the best amusement park around for rides, roller coasters...etc. It puts six flags to shame.

There is an article on CNN stating that "Her feet were recovered by Six Flags staff and were sent to the hospital with her." I think she's had them reattached now. But imagine the staff that recovered her feet, that'd just be weird.

Yeah, i don't understand why rides are so poorly maintained these days. I mean every day you hear of this kind of shit happening. Fuck 'em, i don't need to pay ridiculously large prices to experience thrill that lasts 10 seconds.

her fault it was a cable that snapped that took her feet off, find a safety harness that prevents that

Witnesses saw a cable snap before hearing screams of terror.

Thats fucked up...

I've been to six flags, like others have stated, it's extremely poorly run.. I went there for like 9 hours one day, and only rode a total of like 3 rides because the line ups were like 3 hours long each..

They really don't know how to handle the line ups, Disneyland and other amusement parks do a way better job of it.

funny you say that.... "May 27, 2007: The Magnum roller coaster at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, was shut down after an accident where two trains rolled into each other at the loading station. Three people were treated for injuries."

According to sources on the local news, the very same car failed to launch earlier in the day. That, and there are no feet harnesses, just chest restraints/safety belts.

Thats why you go to Cedar Point.

Terrible thing though, whats worse is that there was nothing she could do about it.

That's a shame, you never like to see stuff like that happen. I'm sure she'll get a fair share of money from the impending lawsuit. I've never been a amusement park type of person, so this doesn't affect me too much, but I must say that from past experience I can agree that Six Flags is very poorly run.

I didnt say Cedar Point didnt have ride problems...they ALL do. But if you go to Cedar Point and then go to a Six Flags, you will see HUGE differences on how the parks are maintained, cleaned and how they are organized. Six Flags was a joke, it was dirty(bathrooms, trash everywhere): long, long, long lines to almost anything and the layout was confusing. If you wanted to go to a ride...you needed a fricken GPS/ map and compass to get there. You could see the ride but it seemed like every turn was a dead end or fence. It was ridiculous. At Cedar Point, you could walk right to what you wanted and the lines were not nearly as bad and they knew how to keep you moving. As far as accidents, of course, both will have them.

I just wonder.... If that ride "only" takes you STRAIGHT UP, then launches you down at 54 mph.... Where did she get her foot/feet caught ? Did she tie her feet to the ground or something ? If she's sitting down feet at rest, how the F*** did she manage to rip them off ?

From what I understand, a wire snapped and slashed her feet off, like a whip. She was just sitting there in her harness, she didnt do anything...just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I know Six flags will probably pay medical bills and its been posted and its common sense that the family might take this to court and win (if they don't settle out of court) but Six flags like any other large corporation won't don't pay and force the family to go back to court to get their money which bleeds them dry
