Sound good? Will I be able to get a good overclock out of the 6600 on standard cooling? Also, is the RAID 0 with the two hard drives good? Or would I be better off with a large sized Raptor? Just so you know, I have DoDS, HL2, CS:S, BF2, BF2SF, and HL2EP1 installed along with 1.5GB of music. In all, I've only got 20GB left on my Raptor (74GB).

Get a better GTS. Get the OC2 version of the BFG GTS 640MB.

I like it. I'd go with a more secure RAM brand though - don't get me wrong; Mushkin are great! I'd feel more secure with the likes of OCZ, Corsair etc.

Edit> Also, it is value RAM. which fails.

that's a lot of cash for a pc.  my advice to you: make sure this is what you want today AND tomorrow.

whats the deal with the G wireless?
if you can afford it, get the N series router and PCI card.

made a huge difference.
G=54Mbps
N=300Mbps

good luck with the new rig.

He's right. Core 2 Duo price drops are in late July, all this will be outdated in a year's time. As the true saying goes:

In 18 months, you'll get twice as good equipment for half the price.

But that's always the case. There's always a big price drop just around the corner, if everyone always waited for the next big price drop, no one would have a PC.

1) I've gotta make the cash first

2) If it shreds any game I throw at it for a while, it's what I want

Kyle, how does this RAM look (OCZ)

Parker: The Wireless N transmission rate is just how fast the network itself transmits to other computers. My internet is only 15Mbps, so I only need 802.11g

Ohhh, flashy RAM. But a bit over the top for PC6400, if you ask me.

802.11n is a lot better than 802.11g. Although I personally consider wireless networking on desktop PCs to be very silly. You are more likely to experience signal drops and suchlike with g.

Yeah, well, my parents consider getting ethernet wiring throughout the house silly Their house I guess...

Is 802.11n really that much better asides from the transmission rates?

It's a lot better. Whether it's worth the price for you is the real issue, you may see huge benefits, you may not.

Why? He could just save the money and OC it himself, there's usually not that much difference between the cards, especially if you get one from a decent brand. To me, the eVGA card looks to be a much, much better buy than the BFG OC2 one.

Ooh we are all saying sayings?

Here's mines,

"Don't build a PC for yesterday, build it for tomorrow"

At Hurricane; Nice rig, similar to mines.

Exactly, that's what I figured with my C2D. I'm ordering it today or tomorrow, I really can't wait till july or i'll never have a PC. Better to get something like the C2D now and then update as time goes along. Get a Q6600 next year.
