To all those who don't believe that global warming is happening, or it isn't caused by man, please use search and go find all the other global warming threads in which all the usual arguements against man made gloabl warming are thoroughly destroyed.

As a quick refresher;

Natrual cycles arguement - The same data that proves natural cycles of climate change exist also proves that this isn't part of that cycle.

Methane is a stronger greenhouse gas - But it lasts in the atmosphere for a tiny fraction of the amount of time that CO2 does.

Anything to do with the sun - The stratosphere is cooling, hence increased solar output can't be the cause.

Global warming crowd is the same as the anti-nuclear crowd? - you're confusing scientists with hippies, they often have similar hair.

To the OP, if the global temperature cooled in the next few decades. As the scientists have already said that we are going to see an increase in temperature whether we do anything about it or not, we can just control how much. This would mean all the scientists are wrong and would therefore be a win for the anti-global warming lot. Plus this is a global phenomenon researched by scientists worldwide and therefore has nothing to do with American politics. In fact America is pretty much the most skeptical of all the western countries on global warming. It really is just Americans who are somehow convinced that we aren't causeing global warming. I guess if you can convince someone that creationism is a scientific theory you can convince them of pretty much anything.

I dont think we are being malipulated moreso than anyother lame issue that gets trumpeted during election time.  the GOP could use the same tactics as well to put somebody in office.  the environment is a bi-partisan, pre-911,  comprehensive (and anyother gay tagline from the headline news) issue

With regard to the OP, if that happens, you just have to remind them that it wasn't us who would be affected, it was our grand children, so them saying they stopped global warming after 20 years would be tantamount to hanging a banner on an aircraft carrier saying "Mission Accomplished"

Oh...dear god no.

I'm tired of finding sources and arguing with people with circles bored into their heads.

Just find some detailed scientific LITERATURE (aka BOOKS) then get back to me. The Weather Makers, State of Fear, IPCC reports, what ever.

We're all tired of the one little article SUGGESTING something different and then pointing out the tidal wave of articles pointing the other way.

The electoral college balances the vote between densely populated areas ( important because of their population ) and rural areas ( important because of what they produce. )

IE. The world needs Food more than Hip Hop.

You cant have what comprises the majority of the population make rules and pass legislation ( that they don’t understand because its alien to their world ) that would cripple necessary industries and Farmland, the very life line of our population ( if not most of the worlds. )

A small example.

Look what happened with the Luxury Yacht tax

“ Lets stick it to the rich because most people hate them, Good press ! “

A piece of Classic class envy legislation, pushed by liberal democrats to get Lots of Feel good press and camera time.

The American yacht industry was crippled along with the thousands of people ( upper, middle and lower class it ) employed.

The Rich bought their yachts from Europe. The European Yacht industry thrives.

Basically

The Electoral College prevents someone getting into the office by Promising Free Beer in a slum.

Or promising “ Free Health care ! If you have this card, you’re covered ! “ b. clinton 1991

You'd think after 18 years of never delivering on this promise (despite holding the White House and a democratic majority in the House and Senate ) people who vote would wise up. I guess not.

”. . .You can fool some of the people all the time ! “
Abe Lincoln

Each Electoral College ballot cast reflects the popular vote of that district, Its not really that hard to understand. Is it?
It’s a little late in the game to have to educate people on the Electoral College.

Some times I feel like I am defining "electron flow" to the Yanomamo Tribesmen

Sounds pretty undemocratic to me. I guess 'One man, one vote' and 'We are all equal' doesn't really apply then. You're essentially saying poor people are too stupid to vote properly or should be less entitled to an equal voice with the monied landed classes.

Global warming...

Earth is cooler now than it has been for most of it's history, the ice age ended only 50,000 years ago (not that long in earth time, .00001% of earths history actually)

The earth heats and cools naturally, and that in turn causes species to die off, especially the highly specialized ones that everybody loves *coughpandascough*

Stop fear mongering and get the sunscreen.

you seem to know what you're talking about topal, so i'll ask you something i've never understood. if CO2 is so reflective (for IR), wouldn't all that harmful radiation get bounced out of the earth before it ever reached us?

no, CO2 blocks heat, not solar radiation.

I read this article about Global Warming (http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/stor … 97,00.html)

In it, it suggests that we will probably have a couple of decades of global cooling coming up.

Let's say, hypothetically, that this whole global warming alarm trend catches, and laws are passed.  Then, over the next 10 years, the globe starts to gradually cool.

Now all of those who heralded the Global Warming Awareness campaign become heroes, and all of those who said that it's all a natural Geothermal phenomenon become goats...even though, in truth, the Human Caused Global Warming crowd were just fear mongers and those who saw it as a natural phenomenon were, in fact, correct.

Now, what if Al Gore already knows this?  Would it be too hard to believe that he may realize the political gold mine to be had by scaring people for acting a certain way, then leading them to believe that certain circumstances were influenced by their decision to listen to him?

Is it not unreasonable to think that the Dems are setting the stage to complete a total psychological carjacking of the gullible Americans (and the rest of the world for that matter)??

Discuss.
Oh yes im sure there all just planning this. Im sure theres a big 'Democrat only' convention were fellow dems discuss all that there gunna do to destroy the republican party...

That's amusing. So in the 70s it was all about global cooling, then in the 90s it was Global Warming. Now they have a little bit of both. That's not...suspicious at all.
