ok I just wanna say when people say, oops someone did that topic already, YOU SHOULD'VE DONE A SEARCH. Imho i think its bogus, since yea it might be an old topic but the feel to an old thread isnt the same. Since there is constantly new ppl siginig up and posting. they should be able to start whatever they want without getting closed.(not the basics of course, like what can be found on UBAR and stuff)

Im problaly saying this wrong. but fuck it Iam out. pce

nice trying to be funny , but you actually enforced my opinion, the topic is in the same subject yet they both have to do with complety different things. One explains personal experience. and the other tells an observed experience.

I agree with you. Often times people have different points or questions on the same topic, with different attitudes or opinions behind it. Sure, someone could have the same topic, but posting your opinion in a two day old thread is gonna get a lot less reaction and debate than making a topic out of it.

Besides, I just find it sad that so many people SEARCH EVERY THREAD THEY ENTER FIRST THING JUST TO SEE IF IT'S A REPEAT.  "OMG IT'S A REEPEET IM TOTALEE GUNNA PWN DIS NOOB IM DA FORUM MASTUR!!"

Sure, the mods have to do it, but everyone else? XP

well, being the one who posted his "personal experience" on that subject, I will take the liberty to answer.

I assure you, if I could I would help out every single one of the new members with their problems around this site or BF2/SF. Sad thing is, I can't. I can't speak for all of the mods, but the forums have simply grown to big for me to remember the answer to every issue ever posted here myself.

So actually, the reason why you believe we shouldn't tell people to use the search function is exactly the same reason why we do it...

I know it is hard on the new members, who haven't been around here long enough to at least know about most of the issues that have been discussed here over the last couple of months.
I also know it can be frustrating to use the search funtion and realize the search brought up 48 threads.

But I guess that is the price we pay for such a large community with that much input.

To me, the forums have reached a size where you cannot expect a normal human being to know about every topic and direct any new members to the correct answer. That is why we have created UBAR, the expanded FAQ ( http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=6173 , thx to Robin Hood ), the search function, and - last but not least - the new wiki.

These forums represent a large knowledge base. But we need to realize that people need to make use of the tools provided to them to be able to get answers to their questions.

We simply don't have the manpower to handle every question personally. And btw, I don't think that is what mods are supposed to do in the first place.

With that said, I still think I do an alright job in helping new members out in the bf2s.com - help subforum ( together with the rest of the mods and some helpful members ), but I can only remember so much and if I don't know the answer to a question myself, I will tell you to use one of the search tools provided to you, mainly because that is what I would have needed to do, too...
