I have a big fuck you bastards to anybody who gets to see them live.

A fan since about 1998. I was 8 years old when I heard Wake Up. Been a fan since then. I didn't like Audioslave which is odd because I love the work Chris Cornell has done solo and Rage Against the Machine fucking rock.

I've been a fan of Rage ever since my sister was in high school, which is about 14-15 years ago.  She dated a guy who was really in to them and he introduced me to them.  I've been a huge fan ever since.

Like I said, I was supposed to go see them in 2000 when they were touring, but the concert got postponed...and then Zach left the band.  I seriously considered flying out to California just to see them at Coachella.  Once I found out they were playing in the midwest, I knew I had to go.

That band really got lame...

I bought a DVD of them live, after every few songs, the singer would come on and babble some bullshit about world problems. That pissed me off, I bought the DVD for music, not some dumb documentary..

I threw it in the trash, never listened to them again...

sorry.

Thats why i listen to little known bands, they dont care about headlines and venue size, just the music.

+1 for this thread. RATM is probably my favorite band ever. The music (sound wise) is sweeet and the lyrics are equally awesome. I own all of their albums. Sadly, I never got to see them live either, which is why I hope they get back together. If RATM officially decides to get back together and record more albums, I will piss myself. And not just a little bit. They were great together, Audioslave was OK, and Zack's solo work (the rap stuff with KRS One, DJ Shadow, Last Emperor, etc.) was pretty good, but his voice is better with Morello's guitar than it is just rapping. And he didn't do any of his furious screaming while rapping. Which, by the way, Zack's pissed off shouting/screaming voice is so god damned awesome. Guaranteed to get the blood pumping.

You're right.  He focuses on what the band and the music stands for.  It's about more than just the music.

One of my roommates did that.  Within the first hour of being in L.A. the window on his rental car got smashed in and all of his stuff got stolen, including his festival tickets.  Event staff was nice enough to get backup tickets for him so it all worked out in the end.

I've been into them since i saw The Matrix (title song = Rage against the machine - Wake up)

I don't like their other albums though... self titled album was the one and only best !

You're from Chicago IL? OH MAN! IF I see you at Alpine Valley I'm gonna punch you in the nuts. Not that I want to, but I'm gonna be in such a good mood I'll do it without my control.

I'm gonna flip the fuck out at that show. I was soo bummed when the broke up. I have never seen them.  But this makes it all o.k.

See you in East Troy maybe.

RATM are good. I don't like Rap or hip hop and De La Rocha's style of lyrics and singing are close to that and I still really like it. He gets a thank you in the new NIN album liner notes and you can see Trent Reznor shares some of his political views. Timmy Comerford is a really good bass player too.

A mate of mine who has seen more gigs than most would in a lifetime (and he's not really a fan of the heavy stuff ...a bit of a Beatles-head really) said the best live performance/sound he's ever seen was RATM, so there you go!
