What I like best is that they say "we are working around the clock" they say they were unsure of the cause, yet mysteriously they knew it wouldn't be done through the weekend. Hmmmmm Im thinking they took the weekend off. Liars LOL!!
Working in a computer management capacity myself, I can tell you that it's unliekly that any FIX found during the weekend would be IMPLEMENTED during the weekened, due to testing. EA may love you, but not enough to have BOTH the tech guys and the testers working overtime during the weekend. Personally, I'd do the same if I were in their shoes. If there's no guarantee that the problem can be fixed during the weekend, then why plan on having a lot of guys on standby, paying overtime and what not ? It's much easier, AND cheaper to simply say, IF if find the solution, we'll implment it monday when everyone is at work again.
Though I must say, that again... working with large scale computer systems, I'm rather surprised how ANY critical system can be down for this long. If this happened to one of my costumers, my boss would have his ass in a sling, and the costumer would be screaming at our manageming director with the contract in hand, and the managing director would have to kiss SOOOO much butt that his ancles would be brown. And once THAT happens, the costumer starts looking for alternate providers, and the managing director starts looking for new department heads.
