Idk about you, but my 8800 GTS runs HOT! It is the factory Superclocked version though. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814130038) However, after my computer being on all day, the back of my case was really hot. Not sure if this was the norm. Idk if the air pathway is disrupted that's causing this buildup of heat. I took off the side of the case, checked for airflow, it seemed pretty good, I'm just not sure if those obnoxious IDE cables have anything to do with clogging the air pathway... Because I'm planning on getting new HD's, another 320 SATA, and a 150 Raptor...

How hot?
Stick a real big office fan next to it and put on max, then hope for the best. Sorry, can't help, I know virtually nothing about the technical stuff in a computer. On that note could some tell me what overclocking is? But help the OP first.
The 8800's are known to run hot, bad luck dewd.
Idk the exact temps, however, at first when putting my hand on the back metal part of the case, I thought it was going to burn, kinda' like putting your hand on the lawn chair at first after it's been outside in the sun all day...
Not very hot. Their only competitor, the HD2900XT, runs MUCH hotter.JaMrulezass wrote:

Well check them. Your driver set should be perfectly capable of displaying the temps.ReDevilJR wrote:

Mine idles at 65C and gets up a lot higher than that under load.
Uhm, where? In the BIOS? I haven't found them there... And I haven't found them in the in the NVIDIA stuff...Bertster7 wrote:

Not in the BIOS, in the Nvidia control panel under 3D settings, I think.ReDevilJR wrote:

Well 8800s run pretty hot anyway, just looking at you case though I'd be looking at something with some better air flow, or at least some better quality fans.
Just by going from a Chieftec Dragon (horrible ugly case but massive and had shit loads of fans) to an Antec Nine Hundred case every temp in my system dropped by 4-9*c.
Another thing, if you do just get new fans, put more powerful ones as vent fans so you have more air leaving the case than you have being sucked in. reasoning explained here.

I Think this is my fan 80 mm http://www.pcabusers.com/reviews/bluelight/p1.html or very similar
It requires me to get nTune to monitor the temps, I've attempted this before, and all it does it lock up my computer...

You shouldn't need nTune to monitor temps. (although they could've changed that, and I do run nTune - so I wouldn't have noticed)

Ok. They have changed it then.ReDevilJR wrote:

I don't really know what to suggest in that case. Knowing the temps for you components is important. There may well be 3rd party apps to do the same job, I'd try to get nTune working though.
I doubt there is a problem, video cards overheating tend to become quite obvious, lots of artifacting etc.
That's actually the thing, I'm not sure if they're artifacts or not, like when looking at the grass, and then turn around, the grass changes its texture, very obvious, more than you'd think, I'll get screen shots... Although it could be something else since that happens even upon startup of the computer - game...Bertster7 wrote:

32.5CFM in isnt really a lot for a high end PC (am I right in only seeing one 80mm intake fan on the front?).ReDevilJR wrote:

I think you'd struggle to get really good air flow with so few case fans (without buying deafeningly loud fans, like Delta's fans or the like).
Mine is
In: 112CFM (2x120mm tricool fans set on medium setting, 56CFM each, front)
Out: 190CFM (1x200mm top fan 134CFM on high, 1x120mm back fan on medium 56CFM) + PSU fan (I havn't looked up the CFM rating of that)
Big difference from 32.5 in+out.
QFT. it's not overheating, you'd know if it was, so no need to rush out and buy more colling gear, but keeping things cooler than needed is never a bad thing, they last longer for a start.Bertster7 wrote:

I've got two 80mm fans in the front, one on the side, and one as exhaust... I don't think larger fans will fit in the case though...
Well if/when you get the Raptor look into getting a new case (Raptors run pretty hot, down side of a 10000rpm disc), as i say theres no rush right now. An Antec Nine Hundred is only £65 now, it'll be even less when you upgrade and you get all the fans with it, plus it looks bastard sexy.
Would a full size case be better? Or is that midsize fine enough?TheEternalPessimist wrote:

What fan should I replace the back fan with (If I get the 900) Because I want a blue LED, a 120 blue LED Fan?
Is that case bigger than mine? Or the same size?
Would I see much bigger temp drops with the bigger fans?

Well, it's odd, my mate got a 900 and got a black fan on the back, I got mine and got a blue LED fan on the back. if you do luck out and get a black one in it, just buy a 120mm Antec Tri-Cool fan for it, they arn't expensive and they're pretty good.
Best fans you can buy are Silenx, high CFM and much much much quieter than anything that matches them for air flow, bit more pricy though.
EDIT: oh as far as case size goes, it's a fair bit bulkier than a normal PC case, wider for sure, takes an 8800GTX easily depth wise, no taller than a standard case though.
EDIT 2: The PSU goes the the bottom which makes cable management an effort, so make sure you've got plenty of cable ties to hand lol, a modular PSU goes a long way to helping keeping the cables under control too.
EDIT 3: temp drops should be sizable, if the air venting from your case is warm, it means the inside of your case is also warm, the air coming from mine is cold and my PC can generate a fair bit of heat when it wants to, that heat doesn't stay in the case long enough for the air in there to warm up though.

I C, thanks for your help. If I don't luck out as far as case fan is concerned, would this be the one you were referring to? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6835226009TheEternalPessimist wrote:

If I wanted to go bonkers, would that be able to replace all of the 120mm fan slots?
Or would this do just fine? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6811998121

If you replace the front fans I'd only go with the Silenx one, and yes that is the one I was referring to and it will fit all the 120mm fan slots, you could put one on the side too, good price too.
Careful not to have too much air going in though, that said it's almost impossible to have too much going in with that 200mmm goliath pumping air out the top lol.

Alright, thanks for the help... Now next step, saving $1100... maybe in a month or two, I do have two part time jobs now... How would I get one on the side? There's no spot for itTheEternalPessimist wrote:

8800 is a pretty hot series due to it's incredible power. I'm getting a GTS soon.
